0-16 Lions: They got the top QB prospect in Stafford. Should be interesting to see if he can match Sanchez's preseason debut.
Falcons: Last season proved ready for primetime. Can they sustain?

So far; Lions D stymies the Falcon's first drive.
Lions go for a long drive, down to the Falcon 1 I think, yet get sacked on third down and settle for a FG.
Michael Turner runs for a 40 yard TD, out running CB Philip Buchanon in the process.

The Lions first team offense looks worlds better than the 'Skins first team offense from Thursday night against the Ravens.
Shoalz, you might have a squad to look down on this year.

The Stafford experiment starts now!
1st pass: appeared to overthrow the receiver. (I say appeared because I don't know if the WR is at fault on that one).
2nd pass: Dude wings it on a nice slant to another rookie.
3rd pass: simple swing out to a rb.
4th pass: on a 3rd and 4, WR drops a ball that was placed right in his hands.
Not a great first live action series for Stafford, but he didn't suck at all.

Ouch. Stafford's first pick-six. At least he got that out of the way.
His first TD pass! Sure it's preseason, but he's got a command of what he's supposed to do.
I don't think I'd invest in an FFL drafting of Culpepper. Looks to me like he might be the short term caretaker guy if this progress continue.

And here comes DJ Shockley for the Falcons.
The Dirty Birds have a good game manager in Redman, and what looks to be a viable 3rd option in Shockley.
Shockley just threw an awesome long strike that would have been a TD if there wasn't PI.
23-10 Falcons.
I wouldn't say the Falcons are playing flat per se, but they're obviously in "relaxed exhibition" mode. And still in command the game.

Hmm. Rookie Aaron Brown with a little nifty running and a TD. Against Falcon scrubeenies but still.
Jason Hanson must have lifetime appointment to his position.
A booth interview with Arthur Blank. Asked about Vick, he said they had a correspondence when Vick was in the pokey.
Said they discussed Vick's perspectives on life and his view of the future. I call bullshit. Dumbass was probably pestering Blank about his sal-a-ray.

I hear Javon Ringer ran for a 36 yard TD tonight. That's all I care about.

Didn't watch a whole lot of the game and I wasn't home see the game live on NFL Network. The local Fox affiliate aired the game at 7 because of baseball. I saw Stafford's scoring drive and most of Stanton's snaps. These clowns can go 4-0 again in the preseason and nothing will change my view on them until they actually do something in the games that matter.
Stafford does have a live arm...he's probably got the best arm for a Lions QB that I've seen. The big thing is what does he have between the ears and what does he do when the games count. I wonder if Schwartz will have Stafford start next week and get him reps with first string offense.
The one guy I wanted to see play yesterday but didn't was Culpepper. I saw his stat line...5 for 6 for 41 yards and took them down for that first field goal. No Megatron...probably held out for precautionary reasons. No catches for Pettigrew...didn't hear if he played or not.
The guy that probably opened the most eyes was Aaron Brown...could be end up being a nice find as a scatback. Desmond Howard used the comparison of Eric Metcalf. Beyond Smith and Morris, it seems unsettled on the depth chart at running back and perhaps Brown made enough plays yesterday to make a strong claim for the #3 back.

Velocet appears to be hard up waiting for football on TV.

About Stafford - he forced a shitload of passes at UGA. A lot he made, too. Problem is - if he doesn't get over that flaw, he'll average 5 INT's a game. He won't be able to get away with it in the NFL.
He had one real bad pick tonight...overall a rough night but he didn't have Megatron or Bryant Johnson either. Much like Colbert was dropping passing last week, he had some other scrubs that couldn't hang onto the rock either. I just don't think he's ready to be the starter and with how Culpepper has looked, I don't see why they need to rush him into the #1 spot. This team will only win 4 or 5 games (at most)...maybe by the end of the year, he'll be ready to start or just give him the full year to wait if Culpepper can play the full season. Stanton has looked good as the #3 guy but he's always going against guys who are going to be cut, put on the practice squad or might end up in the UFL.
