Teddy's dead of brain cancer at age 77. Say what you will about 1969 and that terrible mistake but 43 years in the senate he made a difference. He was a champion of the people.

I'm sure mvscal's tribute is soon at hand. My guess is the words "rot" and "hell" will be used in this thread rather frequently by the dittotard faction. As for me, I did not know or ever meet Ted Kennedy. I couldn't honestly tell you if he was an SOB or not. But I liked the way he voted most of the time.

I fully expect at least the rest of the week being full of people saying something along these lines:
"Ted Kennedy was the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life."

I'll never forget it. I was in the bathroom shaving when my wife walked in and said to me "They just said Ted Kennedy died last night" and without missing a beat I just said "Good."
Hope it's hot where he is now.

What, and jump on your bandwagon?
Kennedy accomplished a lot of good in his lifetime.
Did he get away with something 40 years ago that he shouldn't have? Probably.
You weren't even born then, so WTF do you know about it?
Did he have problems in his personal life? Yes, but most likely overblown by the conservative biased press.
Which of us is perfect?
You hate him for being a liberal and getting over politically. Can't you call a spade a spade?
When Dick Cheney (who is a criminal on a much larger scale than Kennedy could ever approach, IMO) kicks the bucket, are you going to join my celebration?

I'd really like a quick rundown of all the good that ted Kennedy has done for the country? The who often repeated JFK's famous words about asking not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country despite pursuing a progressive liberal political career spent getting the government to do all sorts of things for us.
It's kinda humorous listening to the commentators and politicians extolling this guy's tenacity, the Lion of the Senate, etc., yet, not one person has yet cited any major accomplishments. Several decades in the Senate spent apparently helping others yet, we can't cite any major accomplishment.
May he RIP because the rest of us are not and our kids will not because of this guy's political career.
Oh, and can the Democrats stop bullying us with this Do-it-for-Teddy nonsense on Obamacare, please?

No, it's liberal politicians hitching the health insurance reform debate (it's no longer about health care reform) to Teddy's death as pelosi does
here.
Or as Robert Byrd is doing by
suggesting that the version be named after after Kennedy.

Robert Byrd wrote:In his honor and as a tribute to his commitment to his ideals, let us stop the shouting and name calling and have a civilized debate on health care reform which I hope, when legislation has been signed into law, will bear his name for his commitment to insuring the health of every American.

Now that the requisite insults have been played, explain how something is less relevant if it occurred prior to one's birth.

When Ted acted like his older brother. Too bad he didn't do more of this:
During the 1970s, Kennedy was instrumental in deregulating the interstate trucking industry and airline ticket prices, two innovations that have vastly improved the quality of life in America even as—or more precisely, because—they pushed power out of D.C. and into the pocketbooks of everyday Americans. We are incalculably richer and better off because something like actual prices replaced regulatory fiat in trucking and flying. Because they do not fit the Ted Kennedy narrative preferred by his admirers and detractors alike, these accomplishments rarely get mentioned in stories about the late senator.
