Colorado was making a nice comeback and then their WR got drilled and fumbled deep in CSU territory.

CU boards were in full-on, fire Hawkins melt in the first half.

Buff D has stepped up, but for a team that has re-committed to downhill/smashmouth run game.....11 rushes for 16 yards in the first half and Darrell Scott with very few touches would not have me very convinced. still looks like the same set of plays tailored for Cody's lack of arm strength to me.

Nice goalline stand by the Buffs, but this one is all but over. Count me in on the "fire Hawkins" meltdown. They've had multiple opportunities to get back into this one, but they keep shitting the bed. Darrell Scott has more kick returns than carries. That about sums it up right there...

CU is going nowhere against a defense that gave up almost 400 points last year.

Would Cody Hawkins start on any other team in the Big XII?

I wanted to watch this game to see how CU's lines on both sides of the ball played. I was mostly curious on their ability.
I was very much pleased with the result.
Two words Buff fan...long season. :D

I hate to raise the spectre here, but the things this staff does simply don't make sense. it reminds me of John Blake at times. go into the half with 3 timeouts, and burn through 2 in the early part of the second half....when it turns out you need them to come back. they are snapping the ball with 0 and 1 seconds left on the play-clock when they are trying to come from behind and time a real issue? and, allegedly, this team ran the "hurry-up" offense last year but can't get plays off any quicker with the game on the line?

they say they have a new physical run game and they rush 21 times for 28 yards? Scott gains 8 on his first carry, never sees the ball again.

anyway, it appears i'm BTPCF poison this weekend and the MWC made the Big XII it's bitch.

Hold on, The Lil' Dutch Boy can still win 10 games...did he mean, all in one season?
Please don't fire Dan, remember, "it's better to have a bad day as a Buff, than a good day as a Husker." He gave you that...what more do you want than a guy that talks a great game?
Extend his contract, DO IT TODAY!

Seriously, isn't he joined with Bohm in some form? Kind of a marriage?

i don't remember the circumstances, but it's a replacement game for something that didn't pan out. CU's AD likes the off-brand scheduling (like Sunday, Friday and last year played WVU on a Thursday) to get the exclusive TV exposure.

Colorado is a mess...

I hate saying this since my mom graduated from there... and Northwestern... and Stanfurd... and well, she's a professional student without any common sense.

I usually pull for Colorado and the teams above other than the "weenies"...

State dominated Colorado from start to finish.

I just hope drunkmike... gets drunk enough to be the fun guy at his sister's birthday party tonight....

It can be done... I know... I'm a Cal guy.

Well, it was open mic night, so I had to get up and play a couple songs, despite the fact that I just bought my first acoustic about two weeks ago. Surprisingly, it was slightly less disastrous than CU's performance today. There's a dude here wearing CSU gear. I already changed, but I'll probably have to come clean and give him props.

They just signed a contract to play it there for the next 10 years. I think CSU finally gets a home game in 2020.

If I am a Big Time recruit and I see the ways Hawkins manages a game....I would stay away. I hope DS is enjoying his time in Boulder.

Some things never change. I like the guy quoted as saying, “We like to come here early just to relax, have fun and watch the crazies,” said CU graduate Steve Alcala, who has driven up from Pueblo with his family for home games for the last five years.
What better place than Boulder on game day to "check on the crazies" with the family.
Awww Colorado football tradition, nuttin' like it. Drunkin' idiots, topless / bottomless women ( now thats what its all about; I 'm OK with this part) and the always fresh burning of the couches. And what's a CU game without torching a porta-potty? Just wouldn't be the same without the sweet smell of burning feces @ a CU game..call me crazy but CU fan would prefer this to brats on the grill? I guess.
And what good is a media outlet without providing a photo of the upstanding students of CU playing beer-bong? Why not a photo of the "real" bong? You know any skank with the bandana assessory is hiding sumpten under the VW bus's hood.

Don't think of it as a meltdown, think of it as finally seeing the light.

I'll give props to CSU. They were fired up, very well coached, and most importantly, knew what the fuck they were trying to do. The Booffs were none of those things. Jesus, H. Fuck, you'd think it would have occured to Hawkins by the 4th quarter that just maybe he should get the fucking play called with more than 10 seconds left on the play clock. They had that problem last year too.

It didn't really catch my notice during the off season how there weren't all the usual stories about how Hawkins had one of the "top recruiting classes in the nation" I don't usually pay much attention to those stories anyway, because they're inevitably full of shit. Last night's game made it obvious to me why those stories weren't around: Hawkins didn't recruit worth a shit the last couple years, and all he landed for this year were a few juco transfers with academic problems; talent with bad attitudes. The sooner CU is rid of that asshole, Hawkins- and that cocksucking AD- the better.

Cornhusker, it ain't just gonna be a long season, it's gonna be a long several seasons- probably until Hawkins' successor's second or third year.

Say what?

Sin,
Texas A&M 41 - NM 9

Standing by my A&M over CU predition. You still calling that an easy win? I recall calling it a coin toss. It being on the road, I still think it is a coin toss. We start 4-0, I may change my tune to easy win....for us. Our secondary is still getting lit up. Our run D is at least showing some improvement. We'll see as the season progresses.
KC wrote:i see both Aggie fan and Kansas fan giving themselves W's in Boulder. pretty generous, guys. my CU buddies are talking 8-9 wins...which doesn't leave much room for losses at home. and they are seeing A&M as a W for sure. and feel like they should have won last year at Kyle, which they should have *if* they were a good team.

i didn't say it was an easy win. my buddies did. i would have picked a W for CU in that one, but after watching CU-CSU Hawkins and Co. look like they are in over their heads and you (or CU fan) starts to see this as a trend over the now eternal 4 years of Hawk talking big and his team being mediocre at best. for cryin' out loud, they've been talking in the local media all summer about the new "smashmouth" run game and their now healthy, bruising OL and they rushed for 28 yards on 21 attempts.

I've never been sold on Hawk. Peterson has proven to be the brains behind BSU all along, not Hawkins.

been looking that way and there were questions when Hawk was hired. the guy was the TE coach under Koetter at Boise before Koetter took the ASU job (actually, he took the OK State job first, then the ASU job)....was never a coordinator.

i thought he was a good hire at the time given CU's situation both real and perceived (post-Barney) and Hawk's big talk about the "Boise Playbook". watching them in year one, i really thought his coordinators were in over there heads/lacked experience....and that Dan liked to talk about himself far too much. the situation is real bad here here today. he's been testy with the media all summer since there's less of the "we love you Hawk" attitude and more of the 13 W's in 3 years ain't gonna cut it. no joy in mudville.

not a lot of time to get their heads on, they play on the road on Friday night.
