i remember those oregon state thugs. they won a fiesta bowl.

it seems to have worked out for osu, eh. i'm not sure they'd ever won four games in a season during my lifetime before erickson arrived. he breathed life into a moribund program and riley's used the name recognition to run a clean program since. so yes, it appears the ends have justified the means.

Sam, I don't know if you saw a specific play call in the 4th quarter, while it was still a close game, that just totally was dumbfounded. Memphis had 4th and 1 at about the Ole Miss 40. They put their 6'4" or so QB 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage instead of trying to use the QB sneak. Ole Miss promptly blows the play up for a 3 yard loss.
