2 Men Struck, Killed While Fighting On Highway


DARLINGTON, Wis. -- Two Illinois men were struck and killed after their fight spilled onto a southern Wisconsin highway.

Lafayette County sheriff's officials said the two men -- Avari D. Baker, 29, and Leonard L. Harris, 32, both of Freeport, Ill. -- were passengers in a vehicle driven by a Darlington woman. The driver pulled over along Highway 78 near the state line after the men began arguing. The two men got out and started fighting on the highway and were struck at about 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Sheriff's deputies said the men were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle that hit the men was taken to a hospital for minor injuries. Two children in her car weren't hurt.
