Allegedly Givens' physical during contract negotiations with the Titans was overlooked by Titans team doctors.
I knew this guy back when he was a senior at Humble high school. His best friend lived across the street from me and I would go over there and hang out from time to time. My wife was really good friends with him in high school and said he was the nicest guy she knew.
This guy has always been the consummate professional and sold his body out when he was collecting rings with New England. A damn fine receiver he was and I believe his story. He was never a me guy when he was in the limelight on those great Pats teams.
This injury ended his career, so there has to be something there as far as I'm concerned. In today's age, MCLs and ACLs are healing much faster and we're seeing players get back on the field in frequent fashion. The fact that this guy never could recover from the injury raises a lot questions about the way his situation was handled.
I say pay him all of his contract if this is even slightly true.
