Just finished off a 12 of this stuff.

Not bad at all, really. They must have used a pretty good strain of rice.

Wasn't planning on buying it, but, the douchebags at Big Y jacked their SA up another buck to 15 a six and this was sitting next to it at 10/12 pack.

Is sam adaims better? yeah, maybe a little, but, not 50% better.

They even use a non twist off cap as do most real beers.

I have a question about that. is a twist off cap inferior? Does it not hold a seal as well?

Anyone else try this stuff? What are your thoughts on it? I cna actually see myself going back for more. rack AB, for once.

First time I tried it was Pennsacola, FL - good stuff.

I'm a big fan of Shiner Bock too - it's brewed / on tap in Texas, would think it's cheap down there

I'm no Dins on this subject (like all of them), but with ale's you want a "seal on" cap so microbes can't get in like the potential for twist off's due to the grooves. You bottle ale cold and I think you want to be damn sure nothing gets in.

About 10 years ago I used to brew my own ale and it tasted just like our local Sierra Nevada pale ale. Then when I looked at my cost for making it and especially the time involved... it is better to just buy it off the shelf.

With Yuengling, it is a good cheap beer for sure. I think the brewery is the oldest in the country.

Yuengling can be found most anywhere in the east. Very easy to find in Florida. Like PSU said, for a relatively cheap beer, it’s hard to beat. Had meself a few during the Stiller game yesterday.

And I’ve had the American Ale which I thought was suprisingly good. Still remember about 5-6 years ago, was down at Sea World with the two kids, my then wife, her sister, bro-in-law, and their two kids. Now, I freaking hate amusement parks. Just can’t stand ‘em. The crying kids, the waits in lines, the expensive food, the heat, the sweating. Fuck it all. So, my bro-in-law and I are reaching the end of our patience rope. One more crying kid, ours or not, they’re going in the pool with Shamu. One of us, can’t remember which, sees a sign for the ‘Anheuser Busch Welcome Center’ or something like that. Bloody hell, I could have sworn a rainbow appeared and angels started trumpeting from the clouds.

We b-lined it over there and honest to god when I saw the place, it was like I was Andy Dufresne finally reaching freedom. Beautifully large, 2-story building, w/vast windows. Through the windows, two-story tall vats of beer could be seen with a tap near the bottom of each. Maybe 6 or so of ‘em… A small line formed in front of each. Walk in, show your ID t at the door, and pick a line, wait 1 minute, get a free beer, down it, get in another line, get a free beer… One of the free beers was this American Ale.

Other than the free beer, the best part about it was that there were no fucking kids to be seen anywhere. No fucking women, or at least very few… and the ones you DID see were the mom’s who ‘get it’… the same milfs you see out at the bar every once in a while who know that there is life outside of the kids. The ones you want to drink with. There wasn’t much conversation between strangers at this place.. just a ‘knowing nod’ that they too just found utopia. Look around, and you see a couple other guys, likely bro-in-laws having the same epiphany that you are, sucking down their beer, looking down at their watches, and saying to each other, ’15 more minutes ‘til we gotta meet ‘em. I got the last four, you’re turn.’

I swear that fucking place was the best part of that trip down to Florida. While the AB brewed beers will never be my first choice, there will always be a soft spot in my heart for them… just for that welcome center and the happiness it brought to me, my bro-in-law, and so many other sunstroked, bored-out-of-their mind guys.

I definitely dig the American Ale. Probably the best beer A-B makes.

Bocks are still my favorite beers. Shiner being #1 and Zeigenbock being #2.

Paulaner Salvator is a delicious beer that will put you on your ass after a sixer.

Had a tasty bock beer in Breckenridge a few years back. I think they only make it during the winter, but it was very tasty.

I gotta say as well the American Ale is a decent beer for AB. I had it for the first time just outside Lucas Oil stadium in Indy. They had a huge beer garden with a band playing. I see they are serving beer so I ask for a piss light. Beer whore says it is $6 or I can have the American Ale for free as they are promoting it. Hmm....let me think about this. Took the Ale and was pleasantly surprised. I sat there for the next hour drinking beers waiting for my bro-in-law to bring my ticket tot he game. Decided to buy a 6er of it from the G-store. Unpleasantly surprised it was $7 a sixer. Way overpriced for that beer.

7 is a little pricey in your neck of the woods. i seem to recall beer being cheap there. ct beer prices are kinda steep, so 10 bucks a 12 is a decent price.

another favorite of mine for the price is honey brown. prolly the only decent thing to ever come out of crapchester.

RACK Shiner...I'm partial to Ales and Stouts (ie--I love dark beer)

I've tried American Ale out of the tap...decent but not something I'd buy a 6-pack of. Today, I bought sixers of Newcastle, Killian's and Bell's Amber Ale...three of my favorites.

Went to the store over lunch and American Ale was $6.29/sixer. 7% tax and that is $6.73. Way too much for that beer. If it sold for regular Bud Rice cost I would drink it regularly as my weekend water.

Shiner Bock does not have one single characteristic that defines a bock beer. It's not even close to being a bock. It's an alt not a bock. Not too bad, but way overpriced.
