Thanks goodness bullying pays off. Who could possibly imagine the horror if Mr. Limbaugh actually had a minority interest in an NFL team. We can all rest comfortably tonight !

I was going to start a thread about Limbaugh's NFL ownership interest, but I didn't really want to get into a racial shit-storm in this forum.
BUT, since you've brought it up, Wolfie ...
It was, imo, extreme PUSSINESS on the part of ESPN when they shitcanned Limbaugh for his comments on McNabb back in 2003.
All he did was give his OPINION.
He expressed a point of view.
The thought police cr@pped their pants over THIS point of view being expressed, and we can't have that, can we?
I personally don't give a shit if Limbaugh is an NFL owner or not, but I see no reason at all why he couldn't be an owner.
The so-called "liberals" are anything but liberal.

Sad day when political views enter into the NFL picture at all.

Surprising when a known racist and bigot gets blackballed by a sport where 70% of the players are black. Just shocking.

Ah yes, Rush the racist, I forgot.
Well, the liberal fuckpuddle's do have to have their enemy.
D. McNabb said he would not play for a Limbaugh-owned team.
Philly plays Oakland this Sunday.
McNabb said he will seek J. Russell out and offer him some words of help and encouragement.
I'm sure McNabb does that with all struggling young QB's, yes.
Or ... maybe just this one, in light of him being BALCK.
No racial bias there at all.
Shit you just can't make up.

Also, why would the NFL want a known drug addict and smuggler in its midst?

Rush is nothing more than an imperfect person. If Michael Vick can be in the NFL, Rush can. As far as I know, Rush isn't on probation or in jail. It's still a free country. You liberals are going against your own thinking on this one.

But he did do it. He confessed on national radio and TV.

It is a free country. Which means the NFL is free to not allow drug addicted racist douchebags into their club.

Limbaugh was once arrested on ... doctor shopping ... charges, but the charges were later DROPPED.
Also, Limbaugh has NEVER BEEN CHARGED with drug smuggling.

Either that, or (like the rest of the 'quotes' that aren't simply invented outright) just taken out of context.

So what? The NFL doesn't operate as a court of law. Reasonable doubt is not required. Hell, probable cause is not even required. They can keep you out just because they don't like dog eating tennis instructors.

Look if you think poor rush is getting wrongly treated, you should take it up with Dave Checketts, the guy that put the team together in an effor to acquire the Rams....he's the guy that kicked Limbaugh to the curb

Nope. Limbaugh quit.
Walked away.
Cut and run.
Couldn't take the shitstorm he started, so he ran back to the golden EIB microphone.
Like you, I could not care less if he is an owner or not, especially for an irrelevant franchise like the Lambs. Although I think it's ironic that he'd be involved with an enterprise that fills out its talent through a draft.

I am fairly certain
Goodell didn't want any part of jackson/sharpton/etc/etc... and put the word out:
“I’ve said many times before, we’re all held to a higher standard here and I think divisive comments are not what the NFL is all about,” Goodell said. “I would not want to see those kind of comments from people who are in a responsible position in the NFL, absolutely not.”
Limbaugh's chances at ownership were nil at this point. It took a day for the hammer to fall... but just about everyone knew he was out upon hearing this. You?

of course I knew it would never happen...and Limbaugh did too (I'm pretty sure it was nothing more than a publicity stunt on Limbaughs part), but apparently Checketts wasn't smart enough to recognize that it would never fly....
which again smacks to the question of exactly how long will it take this Checketts led group (assuming they're successful in the acquisition) to bankrupt the Rams

The kind who can read and watch the news. You've got a POTUS and Congress that is blaming Limbaugh for their unpopularity and looking to legally censor him. If it was just those two jerkoffs, nobody would care. And if anyone cared about racism, Rev. Wright's protege wouldn't be in the White House.

Rush is a smart guy, a great businessman and entertainer, so privately he had to know it might go down this way.
But Loyal Rush Listener. That's the one I'm laughing at the most. For years Rush has been convincing him that being a Ditto-head meant being real Mainstream America. However, nothing can be more Mainstream America than the NFL, and Brand Rushbo just got DENIED.

Personally, I find the guy tedious. Hence, I don't listen to him. I prefer Dennis Prager in the A.M., Hugh Hewitt in the afternoon.
However most of the racist 'quotes' I've seen lately turn out to be manufactured, all of the quotes actually attributable to him are out of context.

Tom Jackson said he was quitting if Limbaugh remained on the show.
ESPN wasn't about to have Jackson quit in the wake of the comments made by Rush, while Rush remained on the show.
So Limbaugh was "asked" to leave.
"You're gonna leave now, Rush.
Right? Right?"

but but, I thought he was a friend of the working man-that's what he's always sold himself as-a champion of the little guy....turns out he's nothing more than a money grubbing attention whore, with absolutely no regard for anything or anyone but himself....but hey, if that's an admirable quality for you, then he's definitely your guy...

Clear Channel pays Limbaugh $50 million dollars a year in base salary...of course they do derive the income produced from ad revenue from his show, but Clear Channel also forfeits 25% of their ad time during his show to Limbaugh himself (you know, those endless self promotions about buying his newsletter, joining his website, etc, etc) and that was one of the stipulations when he signed his 8 year-400 million dollar contract extension a few years back....so it's unknown exactly how much income loss Clear Channel forfeits from this lost ad revenue, but no doubt it's substantial....so, the $50 million a year they pay him in salary is really just a component of how much he costs Clear Channel a year...two years ago Clear Channel was forced to lay off 200 employees because they were top heavy salarywise...it's ironic that they needed to cut almost exactly the amount of Limbaughs total contract, or 400 million in salaries.....they approached him about possibly renegotiating his contract, and he essentially told them to go fuck themselves (nothing particularly wrong with that, because Clear Channel were the ones stupid enough to sign him to that over inflated contract) so it's not really his fault in that sense, but if he was as big a champion for the little guy, you'd have thought he might be a little more pliable, but he wasn't....as such, Clear Channel had no choice but to cut 200 people loose....meanwhile, Clear Channel has been on life support since a 19.8 billion dollar purchase deal fell though almost 2 years ago...they continue hemorrhaging money and unless they can find a merger deal (highly unlikely), or divest themselves of the less profitable portions of their communications conglomerate (which is the most probable scenario), they're going to have no alternative but to go the way of re organizational bankruptcy.....
do a little research and you can verify all of this yourself....I know about it because a bud of mine is a manager of two radio stations here in town and he's the one that gave me the info on it...I verified the story via a little reseach and it's absolutely true...
