Most overrated 'starter' on your favorite team?

Patriots - Lawrence Maroney

I've seen less dancing in a Beyonce video than Maroney does near the line of scrimmage. Plus: he's fragile. He misses an average of 4-5 games a year since he's been in the NFL. Thank GOD his rookie contact is coming to an end.

4.2 yds per carry last game? If he would have had more carries, you might have had a W.

I'd have to say Hightower. He's a great 3rd down back, but they need to put Beanie Wells in on 1st and 2nd.

Shawne Merriman...I've seen more pushing in the mens room.

Merriman sans the roids and the fact his knee seems to be about 75% hasn't been a factor, and one of the big reasons the Charger Defense couldn't stop Torrey Pines High.

If we really had anybody that was rated......

I'd have to say Larry Johnson - Still can't block, no threat in passing game and has lost explosivness through the hole.

Still holding on to your shit take, eh? He had one decent run of 10-11 yards and 4 other carries for like 10 yards. If he was any good, he'd be getting more carries you ignorant twat. For the year, he has 32 carries and 99 yards. For the love of Christ, please STFU about Maroney.

I guess I would say Kirk Morrison.

Decent linebacker -- average -- not great size, doesn't shed blockers that well, and sometimes takes bad angles or is flat out OUT of position.

Somehow came to be seen as "the heart" of the 'dud defense.

He lost me when he sent out this "tweet" a couple hrs after HIS 'dud defense was taken to school and beaten the fuck down by the Dungver Donkeys ...

Not really. Jammer never lived up to his pre-draft hype as a sure fire 1st ballot hall of famer, but he's a solid pro.
Isn't he still predictable as hell? As soon as he gets beat on a coverage, throw anywhere in his general vicinity. Instant interference call.

I try to avoid Charger games lately. Mocking the locals used to be fun,but with the Cards ascendant and the Dolts being what they are, it just feels sad and cruel.

Except for here,of course.

Dewayne White is useless as the Lions' primary edge rusher and I'd throw Peterson and Sims in the mix as overrated for their position. Foote has been very solid in the middle...no complaints with him.

Screw_Michigan wrote:DeAngelo Hall. Can't say he's really overrated as I think he sucks dogshit through a straw, but pole smoker Vinny Cerrato had the balls to say Friday: "DeAngelo Hall's playing well, making plays." :meds: :meds: :meds: Obvious reasons why Cerrato is an all-in-all failure. Hall has a few picks this year, but they are basically "Here I am, the ball is coming right at me, I think I'll catch it" types of picks. Nothing where he steals a pass or cuts one off. Also, dude is deathly afraid of physical contact. Dude had the chance to stop Jake Delhomme Sunday four yards short of the first down marker late in the game and could have given the Skins a final few chances at taking the lead back. What does the pussy do? Tries to arm tackle Delhomme, Delhomme bowls him over, gets the first down. GAME OVER.
Don't forget his partner in suck Carlos "Never Met an INT He Couldn't Drop" Rogers.

But my nomination would be Laron Landry. Despite what he may think, he will never replace Sean Taylor. So stop fucking trying! Maybe try wrapping up on a tackle instead of launching your brainless corpse 3 yards from the ball carrier. He is still trying to make up for getting trucked by Jacobs last season.

7.69 yds/carry.

The only reason he's gettting more than 4-5 carries is that NE's 1st (Taylor) and 2nd (Morris) string backs are hurt. I wouldn't put too much stock in one game against a team that clearly gave up yesterday. He may pad his stats against Tampa in the next game as well. After all, they did give up over 250 yards on the ground yesterday to CAR. Let's see what he does in the 4 games after that (Miami, Indy, NYJ, NO) against teams who actually have won games this year. Look for Green-Ellis (4th string guy) to get more carries than Maroney during that tough stretch.

That was kind of my point. If you give this guy the ball, he will produce. If Billacek is that down on him, I hope they trade him to a team that will use him.

If Beanie turns out to be a flop in the desert, I'd take Maroney and a couple of draft picks for Leinert.

He's been given numerous chances over the last two years and categorically has not produced. That's why Taylor was brought in and that's why was riding the pine even after Taylor got hurt. Now that Morris is out... he'll get yet another chance to fail. Either way... you can have Maroney for free after this year when NE cuts him. Good luck with that.

The Texans made him an offer that guaranteed him in the neighborhood of $20 million. He wanted Chris Gamble money, but the Texans weren't biting. Instead, they franchise him for the season which gave him $10 million for the one year. He sits out of camp, then shows up not ready to play against the Jets and proceeds to write, "Pay Me, Rick" on his shoes.

He forgot how to tackle in the Tennessee and Jacksonville games and didn't really start to play until week 4 against Oakland.

He is averaging the top 5 CBs salary this season and is an average cover corner with good open field tackling ability. Fuck him. I definitely don't see this guy getting an extension out of us unless his coverage skills start to pick up over the last 10 games of the season.

Bring in Glover Quinn.

Cut him? I'm pretty sure he's in the last year of his rookie contract, right? Anyway - I bet that the Titans are sorry that they let Haynesworth go after seeing Maroney have a 'career' day against them. I'm still in the mindset that Maroney isn't a first line RB in the NFL & likely won't be anytime either. Time for BB to spend one of his early draft picks on a quality RB rather than trading the pick for a bunch of mid rounders for the following year.

What the fuck would he do that for? If he's smart (and he is), the pick/s would be better spent shoring up the D line and secondary. The Patriots are a pass first team. As long as they have Brady, Moss and Welker, they will never need anything more than a "decent" running back and those guys are a dime a dozen.

Yeah, that 'pass first' offense worked well in the Superbowl against the Giants, didn't it? Point being, even BB likely would like to balance out the offense if he could.

Yes, cut him. He's signed though 2011.

You mean, spending a 1st Rd pick on a RB like they did with Moroney at #21? Moroney was the 2nd RB taken in that draft ahead of guys like Maurice Jones Drew, Joseph Adai, and DeAngelo Williams.

Is that what you call it when I produce informed takes and you produce shit that a pink-hat wearing "fan" would be embarrassed to post?

You were wrong about Moroney, dumbfuck. He's not in the last year of his contract.

As far as you being "right" about his lack of talent, well... no shit. I am quite sure Neely, myself, and numerous other Patriots fans have said the same thing in at least 25 posts since 2007. You are far from being the first person to offer up this "amazing insight."

If there an organization that is in the same mold as PETA but for the protection of worms? They should be all over McNabb for the amount of fish bait he killed last night. Throw after throw, pounding the grass, smashing worms to bits. And did you notice the smile on his face after he does it? The man ENJOYS killing worms! Who cares about Vick and the dogs he killed, I'm outraged at McNabbs continual cruelty to worms. Am I supposed to forgive him because this a cultural thing?

Shameless bump based on another pathetic game from McNabb last night.

After 11 years in the league:
-Still throwing behind or high to receivers running open across the middle.
-Still throwing the ball to the receivers' feet on a comeback route.
-Still unable to complete a 4th quarter comeback.

Y/G 67.3
Avg 5.0
TD 3

He may be the most underrated by his own team's fans.
