1.Florida. I don't know if they're as good as last year, but until they get beat I gotta keep them here.
2.Alabama. Good team, and maybe the best. We will find out later in the year.
3.Texas. OU shoulda been up by 30 at half but they weren't and credit Texas for second half adjustments.
4.Cincinnati. This team is for real, no doubt. I will be interested to see how they fare in a BCS bowl
5.Iowa. Road wins at Madison, Ames, and Happy Valley. Home wins vs Michigan and Arizona. Haven't allowed a single point in the 2nd half of 3 road games this year. That is sick!
6.USC. Not as explosive as USC teams of the last decade but still a good football team.
7.Miami. Tough early schedule, and they passed the test except 1 slip-up. Explosive at times. Best team in ACC despite loss to Va Tech.
8.Oregon. I know they lost to Boise, but this is a different team. No doubt in my mind they beat them by double digits this time around.
9.Penn State. We will find out how good they are next week. 6 of 7 games have been at home, but they do have a fantastic defense and some young talent on offense to go along with a solid QB.
10.Georgia Tech. Played a pretty tough schedule and only have 1 loss. Still think they'll falter somewhere against an inferior team but they deserve this current ranking.

On the cusp........

Texas Tech, TCU

Oklahoma has to have a losing record before they aren't ranked ?

Unreal that they are still ranked.

Well, to be fair, OU has lost three games by a total of five points, and none of them were home games.

Cal lost 72-3.

Ummmm, I know you don't really know the dynamics of the region. But, Oklahoma played two games in Dallas and one of them was against a bad BYU team. Also, you seem to be unaware that Dallas is in southern Oklahoma.

It's also nice to know that you think Cal was shut out in one their games against Oregon and $C.

OU with Bradford at QB beats Cal by 2 TDs. maybe more. they also beat Miami by 2 TD's. and, you could certainly make the case they win yesterday.

does OU deserves to still be ranked? probably not, but playing the #3 team in the nation to the end with a lineup gutted by injury at the skill positions is still more impressive than anything Cal has done. except however, it being pretty impressive how quickly Cal grabbed their ankles in the games that mattered.

Texas would buttfuck Cal in the mouth and both ears.

queue "Cal beat that same Miami team" in the vending machine nuts bowl (last year=last year).

You're right, m2. It was actually 72-0, since both of Cal's lame FGs came as the result of bullshit calls by the refs. To really be fair, Cal should've gotten shut out in both their statement games.

I didn't say OU's losses were all road games. I said none of them were home games. OU in Gaywad Family Memorial Boomer Sooner Stadium is not the same as OU playing outside the state of Oklahoma, where they're now, what, 16-15 since 2005?

Ummmm.... I never said Cal should be ranked you ass clowns. You twits brought up Cal.

I just said a 3-3 team shouldn't be a top 25 team no matter who they are.

Well, since YOU brought it up..... Miami has the exact same starting line-up this year on offense and defense as they had in the bowl game they played against Cal.

And as an added bonus for Miami, Cal had Nate Longshore as the quarterback in that game. That's always good for at least a couple of TD's for the opposition.

m2, look. Because of your act this season, and Cal's subsequent act of seppuku, there will never be a good reason not to bring up Cal.

No matter the thread, no matter the issue, it'll always be a perfect excuse now to bring up 72 to a bullshit 6.

Why rank TCU with their best wins over .500 ACC teams? The Oregon win (with Blount) is the best win for the non-BCS teams.

Boise looked horrible against Oregon. Just horrible. Oregon just happened to be even worse that night.

Boise's also looked pretty meh ever since, against gawdawfully horrible competition. They've scabdicked this entire season against a mostly comical schedule.

I don't put PSU in the top ten just yet. Yesterday was a solid victory of the sort that a top 15 team should be capable of - if PSU can win at Ann Abhor, then I might consider them #10.

'Spray, Cincy's played a much tougher schedule than Penn St, who looked horrible in losing at home in the only real game they've played so far this season. Penn St was also underwhelming in some of their games against their creampuffs.

Cincy has looked far better than Penn St so far, against much tougher competition.

You can pick apart most teams' resume at this point. Alabama is probably the closest thing we have to a perfect team at this point...that's why I have them over Florida for #1. If going unbeaten was so easy, a lot more teams would do it. USC has one loss...albeit in a game without their starting QB. How about we put Oklahoma in the top 10 since they've lost to three top 16 teams by a combined 5 points without their Heisman-winning QB? Why do we give excuses for losses and punish teams for ugly wins? Why can't we just take wins and losses for what they are?

This system doesn't allow us to just take teams that win and match them up at the end of the season like they do in college hoops. We have to dissect every detail of what each team does in each game and the team with the fewest flaws, plays for the glass football...that's really not how it should be decided but that's what it's been. I'm not crying for Boise State or Cincinnati or TCU or whomever...this is just a bad way to determine a champion.

Mace, you didn''t post PSU's schedule so far...

Akron
Syracuse
Temple
Iowa
@Illinois
Eastern Illinois
Minnesota

SEVEN games, and they've still only played one road game. They've only played good team, and even that game was at home, and they got drubbed.

Cincy's already played FOUR roadies, including actual losable games at Oregon St and S. Florida.

I wasn't talking about what's left on their schedule. I was talking about who they've played so far. So far Cincy's schedule has been much tougher than PSU's, and PSU looked bad in losing the only tough game they've had.

Some much more than others...

2009 Boise St schedule

Oregon (Both teams looked like dog crap that night.)
Miami of Ohio
@Fresno St (Boise's D looked like swiss cheese.)
@Bowling Green
U.C. Davis! (And it was close for most of the game!)
@Tulsa (Another scabdick win.)

The kicker? That was the 'tough' part of their schedule. It gets much easier from here on out, with:

Horrible Hawaii
Horrible San Jose St
Horrible La Tech
Meh Idado
Horrible Utah St
Horrible Nevada (This team got shut out by ND's D!!)
Horrible Nex Mexico St

That's an indefensible resume, no matter how you slice it.

Miami OH is one of the worst teams in D-1. they are dreadful. and the UC-Davis struggle is pretty bad. outside of the fact that Philosopher Dan Hawkins (Dan Talkins as he was called most of the last 3-4 weeks in Boulder) is a former UC-D fullback....if you had asked me at the beginning of the season if UC-D still even had a football team i would have answered "I don't know". and here they are pushing top 10 BSU?

Jsc810 wrote:The last team to beat Boise was TCU, who is undefeated as well. How come Boise is ranked higher?

TCU's schedule:

at Virginia W 30-14
Texas State Uni W 56-21
at Clemson W 14-10
SMU W 39-14
at Air Force W 20-17
Colorado State W 44-6
at BYU 6:30 pm CT
UNLV 3:00 pm CT
at San Diego St. 3:00 pm CT
Utah 7:30 pm CT
at Wyoming 1:00 pm CT
New Mexico 12:00 pm CT
Possibly because that was last year?
Which if anything means TCU should be getting the benefit of the doubt over Boise this year with a higher initial ranking, and their performance so far this year has been better than Boise's, as has their schedule.

Mace, go ahead and tell me who's left on PSU's schedule that's really all that great?

All that's left on PSU's schedule is a home game against Ohio St, who clearly have no offense, plus their only 'tough' roadie of the year, at three loss (so far) Michigan St. That is, unless you consider defenseless Michigan to be a tough game, which I don't.

Cincy still has Pitt, UConn and W. Virginia. Nothing too awesome, obviously. Even so, I'd still say the end of Cincy's schedule is also better than PSU's. It's at least equal, and the beginning of their schedule was definitely better than PSU's. It may have sucked, but it didn't suck like PSU's sucked, which was nearly record breaking suck.

Mace, yeah, when all I need to do is compare someone to this year's Michigan and Michigan St I can go ahead and throw in teams like Pitt and Uconn and consider it a wash, and W. Virginia has been every bit as (un)impressive this season as OSU.

I think PSU's schedule was terrible this year.

Nonetheless, I think the games that loom ahead of us will be very challenging indeed. PSU hasn't won in Ann Abhor since '96. tOSU will indeed be a challenge.

I see little use in thumping my chest about a 20-0 win over Minny, but it sure was a more resounding victory than the one Kal mustered over Gopherdom.
