A lot of these computer rankings and I believe this one is one of them are all resume based. It isn't meant to predict the number 1 team now but once it has enough data at the end of the season to determine who won the best games.

Iowa's wins over Penn State and Michigan probably look better to the computer than Alabama's win over Va Tech.

Just wait...see how they look after week 12

No team has proven more than Iowa so far. No team based on what they've done this year has a better resume than Iowa. Let's be honest here Sam- your argument is not based on whether or not Iowa is worthy of this ranking it's based on the fact that it's Iowa. If we were Texas or Ohio State or USC you would have no problem with it. It's amazing how well the tards at ESPN get sports fans in this country into believing their biased arrogant shit. Iowa is the best road team in the country, the only team to have beaten 3 teams ranked in the Top 25 of the current BCS poll, has an 11 game win streak, and has played the Number 3 SOS. Like I said, this is people just not wanting to admit Iowa is a pretty damn good football team. When teams like Florida and Texas even come close to matching Iowa's resume then get back to me with your crying about where Iowa is ranked in certain polls. People don't laugh at how CFB is run for no reason and this is the prime example.

I think Bama and Florida are better teams than Iowa. I think Iowa's RESUME is better at this point in the season which is exactly what this computer ranking reflects.

Other computer rankings used existing human polls that show bias. This particular one is strictly about numbers. Here's three teams from that ranking and the numbers to back it up. Seriously, based strictly on numbers and not bias or affiliation, which one would you say should be ranked the highest? Take off the crimson glasses.

Team 1:
Total Opp. Record:
22-22 = 50.000%
SOS: 0.54273
SOS rank: 45
Avg. opp. rank: 56.714
Top 25 wins: 1
Top 50 wins: 5

Team2:
Total Opp. Record:
28-18 = 60.870%
SOS: 0.60185
SOS rank: 13
Avg. opp. rank: 44.714
Top 25 wins: 3
Top 50 wins: 4

Team 3:
Total Opp. Record:
18-19 = 48.649%
SOS: 0.55832
SOS rank: 33
Avg. opp. rank: 53.000
Top 25 wins: 1
Top 50 wins: 4

Exactly.

Team 1 = Alabama
Team 2 = Iowa
Team 3 = Florida

Iowa is ranked #1 because of SOS, which is obviously heavily favored in this ranking. At this point in time, Iowa's SOS is better than Bama and Florida according to this ranking. They all have undefeated records, but Iowa has 3 wins over top 25 and 4 over top 50 teams. That's what is keeping them ahead here. Should Bama and Florida continue to win, they will ovetake Iowa in this poll as their remaining SOS is tougher than Iowa's. This is why you let the season play itself out and don't get so hung up on what a computer says RIGHT NOW.

how has Iowa not impressed you, Sam? Is it because we don't put up 50 every week? We don't need to. Sam, we have played a couple primetime games, we went into PSU's white out and dominated, we haven't allowed 1 single second half point in 3 road games, we carry an 11 game win streak, our defense and special teams are amongst the best in the nation, we have a QB that is clutch and talented, we have as good of a TE combo as there is in the country, our WR's are solid as well. I think Bama is the best team in the country, but at this point I can't see how you can say Iowa isn't every bit as good as anyone. Again, I think you're blinded by the fact that its Iowa and not USC or Texas. Seriously, what does this team have to prove? We've played a solid schedule and are 7-0. If we scored 50 but gave up 35 a game would you be more impressed? Iowa is not a sexy team but we're so god damn fundamentally sound and physical that we force you to play a near perfect game to beat us. What's so unimpressive about that???

By the way, Sam- iowa is ranked 3rd in the BCS used computer polls. Only reason we are lower in the BCS standings is because of the biased human polls. And just so you know, if you think Iowa will drop due to SOS in the future you're wrong. Iowa has a projected number 1 SOS. Florida is 83rd.

I think Iowa is underrated by the current polls...and were I a schmoeHawk fan, I'd be appreciative of that. A sense of underdog status can be palpable motivation.
