STFU HS football coaches, mmmkay?

Terrelle Pryor's HS coach thinks he knows football but the truth is he's a HS coach. HS coaches should not comment on anything college or NFL related. There's a reason they're coaching HS football and not real football. It's because they don't know shit about football.
"They need Terrelle to run more," former Jeannette (Pa.) High School coach Ray Reitz said. "They've put the reins on him and they need to let him go free. When I watch Terrelle play right now, I see a robot."
This isn't fucking HS, retard. Sure, have him run 25 times a game. Ever think that maybe they'll start putting 9 guys in the box? You have to throw the ball enough to have success in college. This isn't HS where if you're a great athlete you can just take the snap and start running to the end zone.
"All I know is they promised him that they would teach him a pro-style system with both a shotgun and under center," Reitz said.
They run their offense out of the shotgun. It's a pro-style offense out of the gun. You want him to run more............from under center???????????????
"There is no question that Rich Rodriguez's offense, for example, would be more apt to suit Terrelle's skills," Reitz said
So why didn't you make like a good HS coach and convince him to go to a system that better suits his skills? Or did Tress offer you more cash? Oh wait, nobody does that! It's against the rules!
"But Ohio State sold him on the idea that they would prepare him for the NFL and that they don't run 'zone-read' in the NFL. Jim Tressel is a great coach. But I can tell you there is more to Terrelle Pryor than what we've been seeing."
Damn that Jim Tressel trying to get his guys to the NFL! What a prick! There is not more to Terrelle Pryor than what we've been seeing.......as a QB.
Reitz said he believes that Pryor is being affected by criticism -- though he adds Pryor would never admit it. And he says it would be a mistake to move Pryor to wide receiver.
A mistake? He has NO shot at making it to the league as a QB. NONE. Zip, zero, zilch...... He has the physical tools to play WR at the highest level. So why not spend the next couple years teaching him the position so that he can learn to run routes and block. If he works hard at that, he's got a shot to be a 1st rounder as a WR. Keep him at QB and you're looking at him being a 5th round draft pick as a "slash" receiver/kick returner but never a guy that will really become a big impact in the NFL. Again, and I have been saying this since last year, he has NO shot at playing QB at the next level and so the best thing for his future would be to switch him to WR. I'm sure he got a hefty sum for signing with tOSU but that cash will only get him so far. Heck, he's probably already spent half of it. Get this man PAID!

Mace wrote:JON, there's also a reason you don't coach high school football......'cause you don't know shit about coaching the game, and you do know is certainly far less than Pryor's high school coach. As poorly as Pryor is playing, he's not been benched like your man, Juice Williams, who totally sucks dick...except when you're sucking his.
I can't stand Juice Williams. I think he has more ability than Pryor, but he's playing for a team full of quitters with a mediocre coach. Plus, he has a better backup than Pryor. Juice is having a bad year, no doubt. But he was very good last year. It's a shame he wasn't smart enough to go play for a decent coach or we'd probably be talking about him as one of the top QB's in the country. Doesn't matter who Pryor plays for, he's going to suck.

I said he'd be a candidate, not win it.

I also said Illinois would either win the Big-10 or finish at the bottom. There would be no middle. The bad Illini team showed up this year.

i'm not sure why you're rubbing this in. It makes me happy. I hate Illannoy.

Why can't TP's HS coach sound off a little? Heck, is JON the only one allowed to let us know how he feels?

at some level this is all pryor's fault. when some guy's in your living room telling you he can prep you to become an nfl qb, at some point you need to be honest with yourself and your skill set.

tressel is so obsessed with becoming the next car that he's bringing his program down the same way: by recruiting shitty qbs and putting every single egg he has in their basket.

JON, you spent a lot of time in here blowing Juice Williams' horn...or his cock....and singing his praises prior to the season, and now you say you "can't stand him? Jumpin' off the Juice's bandwagon?
I could never stand the guy. I just think he's got some talent. There is a difference.

Wasn't Pryor offered some advice from VY last year?

And didn't Pryor tell VY, "No thanks. I got this."

It's sad to see this kid fail as a college player; however, he IS only a sophmore.

I do seem to remember VY struggling his sophmore year through the OU game when they got shutout. Then VY told Davis and Brown to let the offense run through him. He wanted to do what he did best and the rest was history.

I think Pryor in that pro-style offense isn't working out. He looks tight and indecisive every time the kid drops back. If you put him in the gun and let him read and then react, then he could shine. First things first, the kid better start listening to people who want to help him.

So I like Juice because I think he's good? I hate the Yankees but I think they're the best team in baseball every year.

But the Yankees are good. Juice isn't.

Talent? Shit, it's D1 football. Everybody has talent. Terrell Pryor has far more pure talent than Juice. He's still a shitty QB. In Pryor's case it isn't even as simple as needing to listen to the right people. That kid has to start over. He needs to start from scratch and learn the fundamentals of how to play QB. This nonsense of QBs relying on their athleticism while never even learning the basics of the position is just a joke.

All these clowns coming into the NFL who don't even know how to properly throw a football, much less how to execute the basic footwork...it's just inexcusable. Isn't that why they're in college, to learn their craft? How are these kids making it all the way through college without correcting these most basic flaws? What are the QB coaches actually doing?

"Your throw like a girl. You haven't a clue how to set up to throw. Ah, fuck it. You can still heave it sixty five yards, so just wing it! If that doesn't work, run!"

Absolutely no sympathy for Pryor...he knew what he was getting into by choosing Tressel's offense over RichRod. He's a more dynamic athlete than Troy Smith but how couldn't he see that he was going to be used in the same capacity...he obviously can't throw like him though. What's scary is that he seems to have less between the ears than Vince Young.

this "let pryor run free" mantra doesn't really take into consideration the personnel osu is working with. they have a lot of big, ponderous lineman. asking pryor to run will be like running the wing t.

If Pryor had gone to Oregon, he'd be running away with the Heisman right about now.
