If I were an Arkansas fan, I would have been sick to my stomach. (Notice how the flag comes from a ref right next to the play.... what could he have seen )

It's as if those SEC refs felt deep down they could not let their darling Gators fall out of the NC game.

There was another bad call right before this one on a PI call. The refs were hell bent on making sure the Florida drive succeeded.

So now they've suspended the refs..... don't know how that addresses the situation...

If anyone posts a Florida record on this board, please put an asterisk next to it: 6-0*

I gotta agree, I was watching at it was a total shit call. The announcers even dislodged Teabags sack from their mouthes long enough to diss the call.

Yep. There was a series of three calls in that game - all of which saved Florida's bacon - which were so ridiculous that it immediately made me think of Tim Donaghy and the whole Kings-Lakers farce.

As if the Gators don't have enough powerful off the field forces working on their behalf, now they've got the refs making sure they don't lose too?

Props to Slive for doing the right thing. Sucks for Arkansas because they had real good chance to win that game.

Doubtful. They wouldn't have had the SOS style points. Their ooc schedule was horrid, and the SEC is not up to snuff this year.

All this is is posturing. The SEC will just tell the next crew in line to insure a Bama/Florida CCG.

What was just as glaring to me as the bad calls were the horrible no calls while Arkansas was on defense. Me and the people I was watching the game with were flabbergasted that the officials didn't call a holding penalty on the final touchdown that Florida ran in to the left; there were at least three offensive lineman with their arms completely wrapped around defenders and tackling them while holding the back of their shoulder pads right in the vicinity of the ball carrier. The Gaytor DEs lined up offside at least half a dozen times where it wasn't called in the second half as well.

Unless there are two undefeateds from BCS conference schools - and even that may not be enough, in the case of Cincy - a one loss SEC winner is going to the national title game.

USC is the only one loss team with a chance to unseat the one loss SEC winner, provided the one loss winner is Bama, not Florida. Florida will need two losses to not get in; again, short of there being two undefeateds from BCS conferences.

I'd be more worried about a one loss SEC CCG loser also getting in, especially if it's Florida. The SEC winner is almost certainly getting in, even with a loss.

Who cares if they admit fault, who cares if they get suspended and or fired? Bottom line is these officials made horrible calls and non-calls that effected the outcome of a game. Not just standard run of the mill judgement calls...blatand fucking calls that call into question their motivation. People at home with no refereeing credentials could have made some of these calls. So they apologize? Fuck what's Arkansas supposed to do with the apology...put an aserisk next to this game? These calls changed the outcome, no doubt about it, and therefore altered the entire cfb season. Even a scabdick win is a win, but one aided by the refs?

Here's the rest of UF's schedule:

at Mississippi State
October 31 vs. Georgia
November 7 Vanderbilt
November 14 at No. 24 South Carolina
November 21 Florida International
November 28 Florida State

If they lose a game from that schedule, especially late in the year when losses are the most damaging, they would have to absolutely slaughter Bama 95 Huskers style in the Cash Grab game just to get a sniff at the title game (and this is assuming Bama also loses a game). They'll drop too far, too late in the game...and if teams in front of them keep winning, especially teams with harder schedules? Good night. UF could afford conference losses before and back into the title game with a top 5 SOS pushing them over the top. They won't have that luxury this time.

Also, the refs cheated us out of more than a Florida loss. We didn't get to hear the tearful plea of Lord Tebow in the post-loss presser. Imagine "The promise II" the speech bronzed and hung beside the original.

bad calls are easy grist for the conspiracy mill, but it's not far-fetched to believe these were deliberate mistakes. i'll tell you what arkansas gets out of the apology: their share of the payout a second sec invite to the bcs brings in. that's a lot of dosh for the conferences to pass up in favor of honoring the spirit of competition, or whatever saccharin phrases they trot out when this sort of shit goes down. we've already seen how the ncaa, conferences, and ADs treat the integrity of the game with their 14 home games against d1-aa competition every year, not to mention the affirmative action "everyone gets to play in a bowl game" shit. well, except michigan last year. whoops.

as a michigan fan, all this conspiracy talk whenever a break goes our way is a bit annoying. we don't have the conference's wind at our back, for the moment. but if dickrod gets this thing back on track, you'll probably be onto something.

i wonder about the florida fans' response to this. obviously the "msu" fan-like reaction [joke, mgo] that begins and ends with a simple fuck you. but what about the reasonable set of fans? all you're going to get out of them is an "i know" bit of a shrug along with a statement concerning the breaks. not that i blame them. it's what the rest of us would do.
