Store Cashiers gotta rank about even with.....

....bacteria on the fauna IQ chart.

I was in TJMaxx the other day buying a pair of very nice merino wool socks for my winter bike commuting. I walk up to Jose at the register, hand him the sox and a ten spot. Dude hits a buttin on the register, then mutters something along the lines of "ohhhh fukk". Dude made the cardinal sin of telling the register that I just handed him a 20 rather than a 10. he stares blankly at the register for a moment at the 14.01 on the display.

Clueless dumbfukk: Uhhh, I gotta call my manager.

Me: No you don't. You just need to give me 4.01 rather than 14.01.

CD: No, then I'll be short.

Me: Uhhh, no, you won't.

CD: I better make sure.

Me: Fine.

Fortunately the manager was just a few steps away and was capable of simple arithmetic.

It really is stunning how stupid people are.

You're complaining about getting what you paid for?

What are you saying? Are you saying I should go to some high end sporting goods store and pay 29 bucks for the same thing? if I did, I's still be likely to get some fukking ditz at the register.

Then either complain about it to management or shop elsewhere. You're expecting responsible & mature people in a job that pays only enough to attract the bottom of the barrel?

Did you hold your breath when you were born?

Jesus Christ, yet another "workers of the world unite" lying sack of shit taking a turd on workers. Go fuck yourself Diego.

It's very simple. POS systems are very controlled - for a purpose; PEOPLE ARE THIEVES when given the opportunity. Many stores fire clerks ON THE SPOT for being over or under. If they're OVER, managers presume overcharging customers and short changing them so that the extra cash can be taken before closeout. STEALING FROM CUSTOMERS = BAD BUSINESS. If they're under, they've had they're hand in the till.

So, clerk needs to escalate to management whenever a situation like this occurs. It's by design and not the clerk's fault. It is part of the system in most modern stores.

A bureaucracy that even East Germany would have been proud of.

FTFY

And I'm quite familiar with the concept of retail employee theft & shrinkage (If we need info on human shrinkage we'll ask Cuda).

Bullfukkingshit, Tom. He didn't need to escalate shit. He simply needed to have a 2nd grade level of math comprehension. He didn't. He was a fukking mouth breathing mong. Yet another shining example of what the public education system churns out these days.

Hey, there's always a career as a U.S. Army bullet-stopper.

Praise Obama.

Spot on Tom. It has nothing to do with education and everything to do with a paternalistic retail corporate culture that would shackle their workers to the registers if they thought they could get away with it.

I wasn't aware both you fukks were standing there looking over my shoulder.

It was quite obvious what was happening. Dude was not following the company line due to some paternalistic overlord which may or may not exist. He was plain and simply too fukking dumb to figure out that if what he punched in was 10 dollars more than I gave him, we could simply subtract ten dollars from the change. He fukking said it himself. He was afraid that if he calculated this high math himself, he would be short.

End of fukking story. We are surrounded by incredibly stupid folks. And a large number of these dumb fukks work the register at retail joints.

I don't know where smackoholic lives, tad bit presumptuous of me to infer the establishment he was buying at was modern and that clerks are subjected to the constraints I mentioned. Here in NoVa with retail malls scattered throughout and among the vast array of Subdivisions, many with college kids, high school kids, and immigrants working the register that's the way it is.

Breaking it down, it's actually really funny to watch meltdowns at a cashier. Especially when dude was a cashier himself "back in the day" and is gonna tell the new twit how it was done then. His face turning about as red as the Red Barchetta he peels away in and everyone else kind of all "Aaaaight".

So. I am assuming you sell... cameras with the whole remote DVR set-up and what not?

See. I always wanted to market a security system (cameras) that comes with built-in speakers so the business owner could check-in on his employees from home. You see one of your employees screwing off, you just turn on the microphone and say, "get to work, a-hole... I am watching you" then get back to GHJO at his PC. It would be... epic. Not sure how legal this is though.

Okay, okay, but I'll have you know I was brushing up on my Rush anthology so I'd be prepared for a Marathon of Rush resets, but I will Resist temptation and Turn the Page.

Too late - they already have it. IP cameras with uni or bi-directional audio
