If something major happens to the football program, I'd expect Pete to soon answer one of those calls from the NFL.

I've heard it's gonna happen in the spring.

Yeah, why man-up and own it and run a clean program?? Oh? We're talking about Pete Carroll?

Dr D, do you have a single football take that isn't just a bash against USC, or an observation that the game bores you? Do you have any reason whatsoever to post in this forum? Do you ever plan on adding anything here?

Jesus, you're such a fucking whiner.

Yes, plenty of football comments not related to USC and a single observation that a game is not interesting. Though, I will admit, I love dropping in any CFB thread to see you pimping SC with some bullshit reasoning just so I could shit on it.

I don't see my comment in here constituting whining as you call it. Rather than confronting the problem of a cheating coach you were happily pushing him into the NFL. Which would seem to fit you and Carroll (at least my impression of him).

Were you really that hurt about my comment about Carroll not manning up?

Go ahead and link me up to any charges against Pete Caroll, then, while you're at it, go ahead and tell me what it is you specifically expect him to do in order to "man up."

Sam, what are these "pervasive" charges? Unless they're adding things we haven't yet heard about, how does the Reggie Bush thing - assuming that's what this is about - constitute "pervasive" cheating?

It's one player and one agent, in one incident. How is that "pervasive?"

I'm not charging him with anything. I am surprised that you would demand this of me while foregoing the same wrt SS & Killian or even questioning the veracity of the Sporting News's reporting. I am reacting to the news that SC is likely to get "shithammered" by the NCAA and your comment about Pete skipping town to the NFL.

Manning up would require, should he avoid being fired, accepting responsibility, accepting the penalties, working within the penalties, and running a clean program to demonstrate he can win without cheating. That seems kinda obvious to me.

And how would you propose he begin "running a clean program," when the charges wouldn't seem to involve him cheating in the first place? Is he supposed to not cheat, like, extra double special now?

Whether or not he leaves has nothing to do with "manning up." It would have to do with being fed up with the NCAA's incessant, petty bullshit. Things like the Dez Bryant case, yeah, I'd just want to pull up stakes and tell the NCAA to go fuck themselves if I were an NCAA coach.

In the end, I haven't seen the SN piece. I don't know if they lay out what this "shithammering" will entail, or what it's in response to. I would hope the story contained more than a blurb saying USC will soon get shithammered, while containing no specifics.

Sam, what exactly did the story say? What will the charges be, when will they be made public by the NCAA, and what will the penalties supposedly be? Do they go beyond the Reggie Bush thing, and do they involve Pete Carroll being accused of cheating?

Also, are you sure they're not primarily talking about USC hoops, and not the football program?

Look you fucking idjit moron. I already told you I was responding to two specific things...SS's first post and your subsequent comment. You said if something major happens to the program that Carroll bolts. Something major would only happen if cheating involved. Hence, I read you as saying that Carroll skips town when the program is punished for cheating. Hence, he would be running away from the program because of the penalties caused by the cheating. That is, of course, not manning up. It's escaping a situation caused by his cheating to rake millions in the NFL. I'm not sure how difficult it was to see what I was saying. But being the SC slappy you are you took it as a personal offense. Man up.

While no one has seen it, if it is just about the Bush, Mayo and Jarrett incidents, I'd be surprised. I don't see how it would have taken the NCAA this long to finally make a statement on thier findings if those were the only ones. And if they are the only ones, the fact it took that long means to me that they left no stone unturned which makes me think they found more.

And it they do anything besides vacate wins and cut more than 5 schollies in football and 2 in basketball, I'd be shocked.

Sorry, Van. :|

Hope you guys enjoyed your run with Pete.
I'll believe it when I see it, USC is a big-dog and the NCAA has been dragging it's feet forever on them. Maybe this is legit but I have doubts, I don't think Pete is headed anywhere.

Okay. Guess we'll just keep waiting. It's only been five years, so what's a little more?

How on earth does an NCAA investigation take this long? It doesn't take this long to take down La Cosa Nostra. What, has Pete only been speaking to Joe Pesci in open parking lots, with their hands over their mouths? Are all his recruiting visits held in his fully sound-scrambled basement? Has Big Pussy just refused to roll over, but they finally pinched him for something, and now he's turning state's evidence against Don Pietro Carollissimo?

Nothing on their website about USC and anything possible since July. so ummmm..... link?

Jarrett? Are you kidding? Jarrett paid 800 a month to rent a room in an apartment that a team mates family was renting for that team mate. At any other FBS school in the nation 800 a month for a room at an apartment would seem like Jarrett was getting screwed but at USC Jarrett is some how getting over and the school is cheating.
