Cal was down 7 when they lost the best player in college football.

Cal doesn't have the best player in college football. They have the ultimate garbage time RB; the guy who is unstoppable in games which don't matter, and a non-factor in the games which do matter.

They were going to lose that game, regardless. Cal always loses once they fall behind, because Cal has no heart. Cal doesn't just lose, they collapse, every year.

Thye've gotten slaughtered at home, twice. Slaughtered. In Strawberry Canyon.
