Vandy's your conference's academic flagbearer, and IIRC, its private school, which you need for financial reasons. They do way more for the conference than MSU.

Okay, so twenty some years ago they were decent in baseball? That's enough to keep them around for football?

WSU would have played in a Pac 10 CCG, multiple times. MSU has played in the SEC CCG...never.

MSU needs to be in the Sun Belt, where they belong.

Who cares? If they were to play a few years ago, WSU destroys them. The bottom line is WSU has on occasion brought something to the Pac 10. MSU has never brought anything to the SEC. They're never any good in any of the major $$ sports, and they're a state school from the dumbest state in the Union. They bring nothing to the SEC. Nothing. Not this year, or any year.

They did once, in 1998. Lost to the Tennessee team that beat FSU in the Fiesta to win the first BCS title game.

Jackie Sherill was tapping the Kansas/Mississippi juco pipeline for a while. That's the only way to win at MSU. That, and playing fast and loose with the rules, as MSU was put on probation when Sherrill left in 2003.

So, one CCG appearance, and no SEC titles during the lifetime of anyone here not named Wolfman. They're no good in hoops either, so they bring no real revenue to the conference, and they're by no means an academic stalwart.

Mississippi St exists in the SEC for the same reason the Washington Generals exist.

Let's go ahead and throw Baylor on that list. Though they do have a decent baseball team from time to time. Trade them for Arkansas, or hell TCU for that matter, in a heartbeat.

Oh and the reason their scoreboard screen is so big is because they actually have room for it. Big time programs put seats in places like that.

Baylor is the Big XII's token private school, so Baylor-for-Arkansas makes no sense. Baylor-for-TCU, on the other hand, does make sense.
