Thanksgiving recipe:

Sleep in, wake up to smell of a stuffed turkey in the oven, listen to wife bitch about all this damn cooking she has to do every year and why won't anybody help her (when she really doesn't want my help and I know better than to even step foot in the kitchen and get in the way).

Dinner ready, load up plate with extra helping of stuffing, eat until I nearly burst, tell wifey "damn, that was good", fall asleep in chair watching football.

That sounds like a pretty good day, wags.

No secret recipes here. Just the usual thanksgiving staples. The OL made me peel those tiny little onions. What a PITA.

I do the "Hunting" and Cooking of the Meats on the holidays - it means less work for the Wifey and also frees up the oven since however I cook it - it will be outdoors

The weapon of choice in tge Fall is my Brinkman water smoker

Image

For T-day we've moved away from doing whole Turkeys to just a Breast and drumsticks.
The prep is pretty basic - just oiling the Bird inside and out / season salt / pepper
I use Stove top stuffing - this year was the cranberry version and stuff the breast prior to puttin it on
Fill up the Water pan - I cut up a couple apples and toss those in.
The Water does a great job of keeping the Meat moist

Here you see the smoker broken down - the small bowl on the heating element is filled with Apple wood.
I fill that ever 90 minutes or so to keep the smoke up
The water pan is under the section with the Drumsticks

The Stuffed Breast (7lbs) cooks up in about 4 hours - The Drumsticks in about 3
If it's cold out the cooking time could increase up to 2 hours

Image

I just took the drunsticks off - the Breast in another hour

One of the great things about the Brinkman is clean up is minimal - just the 2 cooking grates and the water pan.

My Father in law has a Turkey Fryer and I'm thinking of borrowing it and giving it a try for Xmas.

Any of you guys done that yet?

From this can be gathered that you're an attention whore who wants instant gratification.

You post a thread asking for recipes yet don't add any of your own, hoping beyond hope that someone else will carry the baggage for free, like SW airlines.

Best you had started this thread in the Cooking forum because Thanksgiving is over.

Perhaps you need to take a warm shower with Wolfman in that new forum where no smack is allowed. You stepped in dogshit here.

I did look there. Which is why I started this thread here.

Cushaw recipe to follow later.

Congrats dipshit. Your thread really blew up here.

Where's your awesome cushaw recipe, BTW?

(Now that I think about it, stay the fuck out of the cooking forum, mkay?)

It's not about the number of views or the number of replies. It's about the types of posters who read certain forums. The cooking forum is all substance. You may only get 5 or 6 responses, but they are certain to be quality. You may get 20 responses here with only 1 or 2 serious responses. Same deal with the tech forum.
