Well, for those who dont know my past I am a former Politician from Toronto...

Presently I work as a Political Aide for an Ontario Parliamentarian. However, the shit's been flying there and I applied to be a Government Relations Advisor for an Provincial Association. Basically it is to be a slimy lobbyist for the Hotel and Restaurant Sector.

I worked in the Restaurant Biz since I was 11 with my father and studied politics through high school and university. Like smores it's the best of both worlds. I got a call for an interview tomorrow afternoon. I just hope they will take me since the pay maybe two times what I currenely make with the Parliamentarian...

The added pay may give me the opportunity to see The Beloved more often... 8)

Good luck on the Job, PO

I'm headed to Quebec City on Sunday for a week on Biz - Not a lot of flights into YQB and damn, they're all expensive.

Thanks KC...

Who are you flying with to Quebec City... Not many carriers domestic or int'l that fly there.

Westjet is doing a price war for one way trip from Toronto to Quebce for $49.00. They prolly only have 1 seat on the entire plane at that price though.

I guess I should have clarified - There's not a lot of choice from Kansas City to Quebec City.

And I'm on a NWA flight thru Detroit that was one of the cheapest and shortest I could find.

Bought it 5 weeks ago and it was still almost $500

AM-- and those 50K watt clear channel stations rocked. Used to listen to WWVA Wheeling West By God Virginia at night when I was in college at the U of Maine. Driving at night you could get WOWO Fort Wayne IN, WKYW Cincinnati, and several others. The best of all was when XERF in Ciudad Acuna Mexico (across the river from Del Rio TX) was on the air at a blazing 250,000 watts !! Wolfman Jack was on that one for a time. The US got an agreement from Mexico to lower that wattage and that was the end of that.

Actually not too good... She strained her knee, (really bad for curlers) but the good news is that she's got no tournaments until the new year, in Scotland. So I think The Beloved will be fine with some R & R. If she really wanted to recover, she could come and visit Toronto  . I'd give her the real tour and not the guided one from the Tourist Commission...

Here's an update...

The Association still has not made a decision on the post... :?

Today the Capital office let my colleague go immediately and the Immediate Boss is leaving in 2 weeks. As of Jan 15th, I will be the most sr. staff person outside of the Parliamentarian. (1 Year and 6 months...) I was given no inclination if I could apply for the Executive post that my soon to be ex-colleague currently holds. :x

So I got "The Letter"...

The Mrs. opened it and confirmed the inevitable. No luck! :? Guess I am lucky that I am still gainfully employed with the Politician... :meds:

Not knowing a thing about that industry...why would they do that?

I'm sure the deal went something along the lines of the US throwing some aid Mexico's way and some Federales showing up at the station telling them to turn it down. Unless it was a state operated station to begin with.

They started finding occasional dead cattle around Del Rio, TX in 1954, mysteriously cooked where they stood out on the range.

People started gettin' scairt that there must be UFOs flying around causing this phenomenon, but they eventually figgerd out that it was the 500,000 watts being blasted out from XERF (the "X"), across the border in Ciudad Acuña. President Ike offered amnesty for all current illegal residents in exchange for the Mexican government shutting down XERF, XERB and other super high power stations on the Mexican side of the border.

Another update... 8)

The Capital Office hired my new colleague and is in his 3rd day of work here. The Executive Post has been filled and she starts on the 26th. As expected, I was not given the opportunity to apply... :? Looks like it's time to evaluate my situation and apply elsewhere. 8)
