What the hell was that tonight? The Owls forgot to take the short bus ride over to Robertson, because those kids that suited up for the game tonight were not football players. That was a fucking joke.
59-0 at the half? And Keenum came out of the locker room in the 3rd wearing street clothes. He threw for 323 yards in 13 minutes of possession. That's insane.
The crowd and atmosphere at Robertson was electric tonight. I've never enjoyed a game like that at Robertson. I heard the Tech game earlier this season was raucous, but tonight was no different IMO. Fans were on their feet most of the first half. And every 3rd down for the Owls was loud as fuck.
Talks of expansion at Robertson is gaining a lot of steam. Rhoades is waffling on the idea of a $52 million dollar renovation project that would bump the capacity up to about 36000 or just tearing the thing down and building a new one for $68 million. I'm for the former. However, if Houston wants to attract bigger BCS opponents for home and home contracts, then they need to find a way to get that capacity to 40000. That could potentially lure the Texas', Oklahoma's, and LSU's of the world to play at Robertson.
Back to the game for a minute. Rice's RB future looks very bright. McGuffie will be eligible next season, Ross is a fucking beast, and Tyler Smith is a deece scat back who runs hard. I think if Fanuzzi learns how to manage a game and stretch the field, then Rice's backfield could be one of the best in the country in a couple of years. Ross has NFL body written all over him. He is a big, physical back who can get to the corner. Very difficult to bring down. The QBs need to play better though. They looked awful tonight against a bad defense. I hope Rice can rebound next season.
C-USA Championship here we come!!!
