looks like my 8-4 prediction is going to be right, I just picked 3 of the 4 games they lose wrong. No fire, no desire, no heart , no hate, Carroll needs to replace most of his staff or get the fuck out of Troy himself

Here is what would concern me if I were an sC fan. Pete can get them excited for big games, but he doesn't appear to be able to motivate them in lesser profile matchups. Sure, they have the nation's best talent, but they expect to roll over people without too much trouble, and when they have to bear down and gut out a tough situation, they are not equipped with the heart or determination to do so. That's because their coach tries to be their buddy rather than their taskmaster. He doesn't get into their heads and demand their fealty and thus cause them to leave it all out on the grass for him.
In other words, RACK the hell out of Harbaugh.

-Down year for USC, with too much inexperience at too many key spots. This led to way too much inconsistency, where from one week to the next a USC fan didn't know which O and which D would show up.
-Horrible on third down, all season long.
-Strong Pac 10 this season, with a lot of good QBs, killer RBs and some damn good coaches who know how to play USC.
-Tough schedule, with a lot of tough road games.
-Fuckload of injuries.
For all of that, they could still win ten games. The only thing which really upset me was losing a home game, and a game in November, at that. First ever November loss for Pete, so that hurt. The only thing which concerns me is the way their D laid down in the fourth quarter, three times this season. They let off the gas and nearly blew the ND game, then they got themselves destroyed in the fourth quarters of the Oregon and Stanford games. That's unprecented, and it was alarming to see.
Was it the players quitting, or the DC making no adjustments? Whatever it was, it can't stand, and it cannot be repeated next season.
Just keep in mind, USC has their easiest schedule in recent memory next season, with ND, Oregon, Cal, Washington and Arizona St all coming to the Coliseum, and there are no Ohio States on the schedule. They're also going to be returning a lot of players who gained a lot of experience this year.
They'll be fine. They'll be back.

Well, the D failed again, so now we get to see if Barkley and the O can at least end the season with a nice, game winning drive...and they have no timeouts.

...pffftttt...
Barkley throws to the outside, rather than the inside, and that's the ballgame.
8-4. Yep. It's official.

If Pete doesnt fire Seto, Franklin, Morton and Bates then Pete needs to fucking leave himself. He spent this whole year worrying about his god damn Better LA bullshit charity, fuck you Pete, youre not paid to take care of those ghetto assholes, youre paid to win Pac 10 titles and you went 5-4 in league. You ran off Chow, Orgeron, Holt and Davis and replaced them with worthless piles of shit that would never question you. You wanted total control and when you got it, you had an 8-4 record and that San Jose St game doesnt fucking count asshole. I see why you were a mediocre NFL coach, hire some real assistants or get the fuck out

Van, the problem is not having tough matchups...it is having easy ones. USC has no trouble dispatching teams like tOSU. They have trouble dispatching conference foes because they just don't bother to get up for them. If I were you, I'd be worried about the easy schedule, not slavering after it. But time will tell...

they used a Texas tech offense to put 21 on the board vs a team of underachieving cunts that let a 1950s offense from stanford put 55 on the scoreboard. They dont have the team going in the right direction, they just beat a BAD, POORLY COACHED team who put up no effort in a half empty stadium

Dave, before this season USC had the best record of anyone under Pete Carroll, when it came to dispatching teams over which they were favored. Nobody was more consistent in not letting down, as evidenced by his record, which included very few let downs.
If you expect them or anyone else to sail through undefeated every year then you're not only being unrealistic, you're applying a standard to USC that you're not applying to other dominant programs around the country. Unless a team has Boise's schedule every year, it doesn't matter who they are, they're going to stumble here and there.
Also, it was only two seasons ago that Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow lost four games too.
USC will be back.

5 star recruits coached by 1 star assistant coaches. Pete is an egomaniac who thought that he could hire some fucking dink asshole walk on to lead the defense because it was filled with great recruits.
I hope they do the honorable thing and decline any Bowl bid, looks like I wasnt the only one to not use my seats, the place was half empty. At least they cant say I booed the team, I turned the game off in the second quarter

Well, obviously if three of their four losses had come OOC and their lone conference loss had come to someone other than Oregon then Dins is right, 8-4 could've still won anybody the Pac 10 the title this year.
Didn't quite happen like that, though.

The attendance was just sad. They were playing a legit opponent for second in the PAC and the Holiday Bowl. This was a significant game, to those that really care about the program anyway. Props to those that showed, eat a dick to the bandwagoning poseurs that didn't.

It was a fuckuva lot more than half full. It was nearly entirely full. The nose bleed seats down by the Peristyle were the only sections that weren't full.
And no, this game wasn't significant at all to USC. It was significant to Arizona, but whether USC went to the Holiday Bowl or some other WGARA Bowl, whether they finished second or sixth in the conference, it's still a failure of a season. Nobody connected with USC gives a rat fuck about second place in the Pac 10, or the Holiday Bowl.
Quit confusing USC with Cal.

this game wasn't significant at all to USC
Bwah! See, this is exactly what I'm talking about. sC and their fans are too good to consider their games worth winning. ANY game in a 12 game season is "significant" - especially the one that ends the season.
Winning the game should be priority #1, regardless of whether the win will improve your bowl standing.
Re: Man the Trojans suck

Well, of course, Dave. In that sense, yes, it was significant. Any game needs to be won.
I'm talking Big Picture here. Second place in the conference, the Holiday Bowl, yadda yadda...those types of 'significance'.
Those things aren't significant to USC.

And that's exactly how the sC players and coach seem to have proceeded - as if winning the game just isn't important to them.
After all, in the Big Picture, their greatness is assured anyway - they'll all be writing their own checks in the NFL sooner than you can snap your fingers.

Seantrell Henderson was texting ont he sidelines and look bored. One of the texts was on his twitter account about the half empty stadium and the booing fans, looks like he wont be going to USC. Paid attendance was 83,000, theres no way there was more than 75,000 in the building in the first half, the 4th quarter there was less than 50,000 people in the stadium.

You think teams really get jacked and pumped to win the Consolation Game at the Final Four? No they don't, which is why they cancelled the damn game.
When USC fails to win the conference, and they fail to make a BCS Bowl, yes, it's a failure, and they really don't give much of a fuck beyond that.
Don't like it? Think that's a shitty, "entitled" attitude? Yes, it is. Too bad. Win your conference every year, and go to and win a BCS bowl game every year, then talk. You'll feel the exact same way.

Williams, Griffen, Havili, Bradford, McKnight will all skip their senior seasons to go in to the league. If there isnt a new coaching staff in place, next year the team goes 7-5 or 6-6
If youre not playing for the title, whats the point of playing at all. I only used half the tickets I bought for this season, what a waste.

All these players are only going to leave if they become convinced they'd go high enough in the draft to make it worth their while to leave early...and a lot of those guys wouldn't go high enough in the draft to make it worth leaving early.

getting away from one of the worst coaching staffs ever assembled at a BCS conference school is more than enough reason to get the fuck out of Troy.

Only running backs left at USC next year will be Allen Bradford, Marc Tyler and some freshmen.

As much as I liked him, CJ Gable wasn't seeing any playing time anyway, so he won't be a big loss.
I'll just wait and see if Joe McKnight leaves early, and hey, isn't whatshisface from Colorado, the multi-time Heisman winning RB, back on the market?

I was at USC for the 3 win season, the team was 3-2 with an OOC win vs Penn State when the starting QB(Reggie Perry) was injured. Marinovich had just left and the team was forced to burn the red shirt of a QB from my High School who is a coach at the High School my older son is going to go to next year. That season was brutal but the point differential for the season was within 50 points, those 8 losses were all close games. This seasons squad was better athletically but poorly coached and just gave up on themselves. They had 25 players suffer serious injuries and didnt have great depth to begin with. I would have liked to have seen Mustain or even Corp get a shot with the offense once Barkleys confidence was shot but with Bates and morton calling the plays it likely wouldnt have mattered.

Couldnt have been the SECs fault, they were too scared to play USC, even that season.
Can you pull some strings at Allbarn and see if they have the balls to play USC again, it was great going to Cooks Corner after the game and not seeing a single one of those over confident, trash talking bumpkins that were so rampant before the game started. Next time they run their mouths, make sure the teams offense can at least cross mid field in its own stadium
