Sounds like preaching to the choir to me.

Yeah, I'd like to see all the columnists who blasted the Auburn administration and athletic department apologize to AU, though.

Right.
I meant as far as the folks in this forum go. You said you were hesitant to post here about it, but I find it unlikely anybody would've argued.

Same writers (Finebaum) that hailed Alabama for hiring a black basketball coach.

Does Bammer Nation REALLY want that little twerp on their side???

I never criticized Auburn for not offering him, although I have to admit wondering what they saw in Chizik other than the fact that he was an Auburn guy. Turns out that it might have been a good hire, though.

The program I went after for not giving Gill a chance was Syracuse. He turned Buffalo's fortunes around somewhat while recruiting essentially the same area of the country. And at Syracuse, he'd have access to better players (although, in fairness, he'd also face recruiting competition from some elite programs, something he hasn't yet experienced). Or if they didn't want Gill, what about Randy Edsall, he's a SU alum after all. Of course, at this point, UConn might actually be a better job than Syracuse.

Instead, Syracuse hired Doug Marrone, a NFL assistant with no head coaching experience at any level. Essentially, they rehired Greg Robinson. Same shit, different year.

So what Sam's saying is that Auburn was right to consider hiring metrics other than W-L record? Oh, ok. Props, Kansas.

Or even a shit program like Kansas. I wouldn't worry too much about it, though. He's just the trendy, minority interviewee of the month. Maybe next year they will find another neegro to glom on and parade about as a "potential" job candidate despite mediocre to losing credentials.

You can also bank on morons here to hop up and down and shout, "Good hire...Good hire! He's a n...igger, don't you know. He will have an edge on recruiting those people."

You're overlooking Gill's most important qualification: skin color

Overlook that and you're asking for a Tony Dungy shakedown.

I'm not sure either of them were qualified for that job. At least Gill won a league title at a nothing program. What is going 5-19 at ISU supposed to be an indicator of? Other than a unique ability to descend below the status quo at Iowa State?

Oh, the good ol' boy network. They hired a guy they knew as a decent DC but who used his opportunity as a HC to win all of five games in the Big XXI North, over two years.

Gill may be a great coach, but who has seen anything to indicate that he is?
