Horrid calling on goal tending when the ball is not on it's way down. It isn't goal tending just because the ball wasn't blocked while it was still attached to the shooters hand, it is not goal tending if it happens to bounce off the backboard as long as you didn't pin it there intentionally. This has been absurd for a while in college ball but this season is worse than I have ever seen it. I've already seen three pathetic calls today alone concerning goal tending. If the ball is not on it's downward decent it is not goal tending.
It's become as bad as the in bounding at the end of games where the player allows the ball to bounce or roll all the way to mid-court and the ref has already stopped the 5 second inbound count. The ball has not been in bounded until a player takes possession of the ball; that's specifically why the game clock doesn't start back up.
I am sick of this in college basketball...
