Sonic Youth: I hate to do this

Post by King Crimson »

because i sound like the same baby boomer talking about going to see the Eagles in a reunion tour and laughing at his old, lame ass.

the SY LP "the Eternal" has some rocking stuff. So does the SY 2006 effort "Rather Ripped". i didn't buy these records, but got them through the ol' file-sharing networks. not bad, still sounds like SY though i think Thurston's lyrics are kinda lame these days. but, they kick out the jams some so who cares. SY wasn't ever about making you think too much (minus The Sprawl from Daydream, maybe. a little too much Kim Gordan femino-rants have plagued much of their stuff since Washing Machine).
""On a lonely planet spinning its way toward damnation amid the fear and despair of a broken human race, who is left to fight for all that is good and pure and gets you smashed for under a fiver? Yes, it's the surprising adventures of me, Sir Digby Chicken-Caesar!"

they played on the riverfront under the Arch here in St. Louis and I expected it to suck like so much of the recent albums. I was so pleasantly surprised that I had a smile on my face the entire set. Didn't lead me to buy any recent albums, but the show was great.

totally agree on the kim femme rants issue.
why is my neighborhood on fire
