Traditionally I've been against the electric chair......but more in favor of the electric bleacher & doing them all at one time.
But a recent case here has me on the fence. A POS drove up next to a Seattle police car & shot to death a field training officer who was discussing a just-completed traffic stop with his trainee officer. He also slightly wounded the trainee. This came after he fire-bombing a police parking lot with the intent to kill/hurt officers (not just damage the vehicles). Normally I would be fine with offing him.
But when he was captured he tried to shoot the detectives attempting to stop him & ended up being shot himself. One of the bullets that hit him severed his spinal cord, leaving him paralyzed for the rest of his life. Additionally, one television station reported that "massive" amounts of child porn were found on his home computer.
So now I question whether this fucker would just be getting off easy by getting an arm prick before taking a never-ending nap, or if it would be better for him to spend the rest of his life knowing that the rest of the prison population wants a piece of him while he's defenseless.
The fact that he could go out Dahmer-style is almost more appealing (as well as possibly saving the officer's family the anguish of going through each appeal) than giving this guy the death penalty (via old age on death row).

Pretty much the main reason it was banned in the commonwealth. Public execution came to be viewed as a power play, a form of humiliation and taunting when one of your own was put to death by the higher-ups.
