Re: Whatever happened to your Health Care debate?
I saw a story on CNN where Obama was chirping in November about how AARP supported this reform bill and what a huge endorsement that was.
Since that endorsement, AARP has lost 150,000 dues paying members.

They might have lost more if they had gone the other way.

Wrong, they wouldn't have lost any. At least not over the health care debate. AARP members were satisfied with the status quo, obviously.

Wags, what's really amazing to me is a bill like this would help someone in your position considerably, yet you don't support any part of it.
If manufacturing contnues to deteriorate and your company closes the doors, what do you do if you or your family gets sick?
Even if that doesn't occur how much are you paying in to be part of your companies health care plan now?
Wouldn't you at least want to have the option of buying a more competitive plan?

For sure...
And if the fed would DO WHAT THEY SWORE TO DO, and follow the Constitution, and GET THE LIVING FUCK OUT OF IT, he'd have that option.
The "health-care crisis" was freaking caused by federal intervention in private industry. Not sure how dumb someone has to be to think that federalizing it further is going to "fix" anything.
Repeal the HMO Act of 1973. It will take a few years for the market to adapt, but watch rates plunge across the board. All that heinous law did was reduce competition in the marketplace, and as with most government meddling, artificially manipulated the supply/demand curve, which invariably screws the consumer.

About $26 a week, up from $19 last year.Even if that doesn't occur how much are you paying in to be part of your companies health care plan now?
Perhaps, but I don't trust Pelosi, Reid and company, or anybody in government to write itself a $787 billion dollar check and then manage it any better than they did the "stimulus" bill which wound up only stimulating bankers bonuses.Wouldn't you at least want to have the option of buying a more competitive plan?

you can argue for a gubmint run plan, but, if your arguement relies on competition, you really are a coolaid drinking dumbfukk.

Perhaps what you'd like to score from this reform bill is a lifetime supply of discounted Depends? Sorry, I'm not paying for it.

I wouldn't mind some of the money that I pay to the government going into a fund that would provide me with coverage in the unfortunate circumstance that someday I can't afford to pay may healthcare costs. I also wouldn't mind if some of that money went to pay for costs of other people who are now in that circumstance, as long as I was assured that there would be coverage for me if I need it. I wouldn't call that "freeloading"...would you?88 wrote:Let me translate KC Scott's take for you, Wags:KC Scott wrote:Wags, what's really amazing to me is a bill like this would help someone in your position considerably, yet you don't support any part of it.

If you lose your job and cannot pay for your own health care, don't you want the government to take money from other people and give it to you so that you can maintain your health?
Even if that doesn't occur, why are you paying for your own health care when we can get the government to force other people to pay at least a portion of your costs? Wouldn't you at least want the government to take money away from other people and give it to you?
After all, this is America. Land of the Freeloader, and Home of the Brazen.
Sort of the way "insurance" is supposed to work. Unfortunately our current version of "health insurance" is nothing of the sort.

Best part about the DC debacle is Barry's fan club applauding their own ass-raping. Barry is currently pressuring Pelosi to leave the anti-trust exception out of the bill, when including it is the only real "change" that's necessary.

True, you aren't eligible for it until you're old enough (or older) to be an AARP member, but that safety net will (or should) be there once you're no longer a useful member of society and can't pay your own insurance or medical bills anymore.
You asked me before if I knew any "old" people. Yes I do, my mother who just turned 89 and lives in hospice care. She fell out of bed last year and broke her hip (again) and had to go to the hospital for a awhile. They sent me all her bills/statements and I shudder to think how her 4 kids could've afforded those bills w/o Medicare and Medicaid.

Yeah, that $13.52 a week I pay in Medicare taxes would certainly have put a dent in a $30,000 hospital bill... if I had put it in a savings account for the last 40 years.Dinsdale wrote: Gee, I dunno how they'd afford it dipshit... maybe by reducing the federal budget by 50 fucking percent without Medicrap, you might have more money in your paycheck?

Marty, there is no way the muzzie who got permission from the Imam to rub one out as long as he lubed up with explosive KY and took some infidels out afterwards is a "wag the dog".
They'd be doing this shit in secret regardless. Just like the flock of cowards "retiring", they're cowards. They know it is bullshit, they know it is wrong, there just simply isn't anything anyone can do about it. The Republicans are impotent and it only took eight years for the Dems to prove themselves and show their true colors. They really don't give a flying fuck about "the will of the people".
