It still hasn't shown up in my neighborhood. I enjoyed the book, guess I'll have to wait for the DVD.

Okay, so I finally watched
The Road last night.
This movie stars Viggo Mortensen as the father and Kodi Smit-McPhee as his son. Together, they trudge on through a post-apocalyptic dystopia in search of a better life... and just a little bit more food! Viggo Mortensen's portrayal as a somewhat over-bearing, but, awww-shucks, loving father is a tour-de-force, while not overshadowing the fantastic work by Smit-McPhee as the wise-cracking, but ever plucky youngster.
The scenery is sparse and contrasts quite well the "buddy team" optimism of the father and son. There's also a pretty zany appearance by the distinguished Robert Duvall as "the Old Man"...
Let's just say...
three's a crowd!!!
The group faces what seem like insurmountable odds, but with hope cunning and a more than a few gut-busting, laugh out loud scenes, you are sure to take this film into your heart. I'd recommend seeing this with a group of friends...it's the kind of movie you'll want to pour over later at your favourite local!
Certainly full of ups and downs, this could be a alternate to all those "downer" disaster flicks we've seen so much of lately.
Think of it as
The Road Warrior meets
Dr. Strangelove for the Obama era!
Highly recommended!
9/10

Your insane Martyred, or just trying to be funny.
What a downer this movie was. Suicide, canabalism, hopelessness, hunger and fucken whinny kid. I really wanted the kid to be tougher. He just fuken whined the whole movie. Irritateing as hell.
