What makes a "great" game?

So, I missed the second half of the game last night. I hear it was pretty exciting. I saw Wisenhunt in the post game call it one of the greatest games ever, or something to that effect. Lots of offensive fireworks definitely, but was it a "great" game?

Exciting, yes, but by the stats it was pretty fucking sloppy.

More turnovers (4) than punts (2)
6 fumbles (3 lost)
17 penalties
Game ends in OT on a fumble.

Virtually no defense to speak of, apparently. Doesn't it get sort of monotonous to see both teams move down the field with no chance of being stopped? OK it's boring to see two teams play 3 and out for 4 quarters, but it's nice to see the field position game once in a while.

Couldn't agree more Mikey. No defense whatsoever. Now Super Bowl XLIII, THAT was a classic. As was the one the year before. This was a glorified WAC game.

BTW: After watching the replays of that last play, I am convinced that should not have been the last play. The result of that play should have been a face mask call on AZ and first down Green Bay.

Forgot to add...

Combined 2 for 4 kicking FGs.

OK one miss was about 54 yards, but what was the other...34?

What makes a "great" game?
A competitive game that comes down to the wire. Sometimes offense dictates the flow of the game, sometimes defense. Sometimes a nice combo of both (which is ideal). I can enjoy a good shootout like I can a tough defensive slugfest. As long as it's a good game, who cares? After those first three abortions, the Arizona-GB game was a fun night-capper.

Great = Exciting for most people. Saw three one handed catches and numerous other superlative efforts. Sure, watching #27 in red get toasted all over the field everytime GB had the ball got fairly repetitive, but GB was behind the whole game until they tied it at 38. After being down 17-0, that's fairly "great."

Not to mention... an amazing missed FG to end regulation. I was like 99% sure he'd make the GW FG. I was dumbfounded.

Then, when GB won the toss, I was 99% sure the game was over, in GB's favor that is. I was stupified when the dude who'd been getting lit the fuck up all night made the GW play to end it.

Yeah, dude. It was great. Mostly because it was so unpredictable.

My wife and kid dragged me out to see Avatar around the end of the first half. The movie was pretty cool, but I'm still trying to convince myself that I didn't miss a "great" game.

It was highly entertaining. You can see a movie anytime.

And in the end he was the one who forced the fumble that won the game.

I'm fairly certain I stated as much in the same post you responded to.
