What is up with the Pac 10?

In the recent AP poll released, the Pac 10 has zero teams ranked with zero teams earning honorable mention.
In the recent Coaches poll released, the Pac 10 has zero teams ranked with two teams earning honorable mention (ASU, Washington)...and it should be noted that ASU coach Herb Sendek has a vote.

Just...wow. That's gotta be a record or something.

I guesss I picked a good season to back off my usual PAC10 Hoops-watching.

The PAC usually brings several very good teams to the table. This year, there's exactly zero good teams.

My Ducks really stink, although they put together an unlikely good game every once in a while. This is actually a good thing, since it may actually get Bellotti to do the reasonable thing, and get rid of the bum known as Ernie Kent. With the new arena next season, it's time for Mark Few to come home... it's his destiny.

Dins, do you think Few would leave the Zags for Oregon if offered? I'm curious because it seems like he's pretty content with his situation where they're the big fish in the little pond and the pressure level is far less than going to a power conference, which despite this years events the Pac-10 still is. I do think Kent needs the boot regardless but curious on how realistic you think Few to the Ducks is.

Few is a Zag for life, imo. If he was going to go anywhere else, he'd be there by now.

Ahhh, no. Few doesn't need Jud, Jud just wants something to do with his time. He's not the type to retire to Florida and play golf and shuffle board all day.

i think Few would have already left if he was going to. GU plays a great OOC schedule so they don't have the "no one will play us" thing that Fresno had or Boise does now in football...

i'm not sure Oregon is a better job. if it's money and UO writes a blank check, that's a different story possibly.

Gonzaga has kind of a "glamour-image" these days, small school in a nothing town that gets a lot of pub...

But bear in mind that Oregon hyas made just about as many semi-deep tourney runs as Gonazaga has in the last decade.

Phil Knight/Bellotti have more money in the ashtray of their rides than Gonzaga's total basketball budget.

Mark Few is from Creswell, right up the road from Eugene, and grew up in the Willamette Valley, and attended Oregon.

Oregon is opening a 9-figure new arena next season.

I don't think it's a matter of "if" Few comes to Oregon -- that's been a foregone conclusion around these parts for a long time... it's an issue of "when."

But what is obvious -- my grandmother could do a better job than Ernie, and she died 30 years ago. He doesn't even be able to pull that McD's AA every now and then like he used to... and he's an abrasive jackass to boot, which doesn't earn him too many style points.

Here we go again -- it's that time where the Ducks finish strong to get out of the cellar, and make the conf. tourney... which they'll fucking win against any and all conceivable odds, and ensure Ernie gets another year to thoroughly piss Ducks fans off...

Same freaking story every season.

Getting rid of Ernie will take at least the same potency of insecticide that UCLA used to finally snuff out Steve Lavin.

No one can coach 5 star recruits to a one-star career like Ernie can.

What a pleasant, comfortable conversation between Ernie and Bellotti that's gonna be, eh?

"How's it going, old buddy, old pal? How's Jordan and the rest of the family? BTW -- you've got 2 hours to clear out your office... and say 'hi' to the missus for me."

I wonder if Jamil Wilson is still happy with his decision to go to UDUCK over Mich St.

Lavin was like a cock-roach. he'd lose to Northridge, suck all season and then make the Sweet 16....almost every year.

I actually like Lavin calling games, though it's no secret he wants back in coaching. Could see him at Depaul.

i don't think Lav is that bad either...in the booth. i think there something really wrong with coaching at Depaul these days....Jerry Wainwright was good at UNC-wherever (sweet 16) and Richmond (beat Kansas a couple times).

So let it be written, so let it be done.

Hopefully, we'll be welcoming Few home in a few weeks.
