I know, Indy. If that clown somehow manages to get re-elected again, we're fucked. Not that we aren't already up the river with no paddle.
Re: Obama rallies in Boston for Martha Coakley
The University system in the United States has been indoctrinating the youth for decades now. The socialists infiltrated - ironically - the very capitalist university system a long time ago. They've been brainwashing the children of America for quite a long time.
I am not concerned. Once reality hits the ldealogies of youth give way to more pragmatic notions. For conservatism, Bush and Obama are probably the best thing to happen. The "snap back" effect will have more and more youth turning to conservatism for two reasons.
1. The socialist and globalist mindset is that of the generation(s) before them. The youth tend to rebel.
2. The policies are failing.
As my generation (40) and the younger generation assume power and remove the scourge upon America that was the "hippie generation"
and the "lost" of the 70's they will set the course in the proper direction.
A post racial consitutional republic - the way things should be. Where we bask in and celebrate the many cultures that compose the United States without having to alienate or trounce upon another culture.
I know, from what I've been reading and hearing, that Obama has done more to turn more and more blacks towards conservatism. See, as the empowerment of blacks due to the Republican introduced and passed Civil Right legislation COUPLED with the strong Afro-Centric messages of the Louis Farakhans - blacks have started and are trying to nurture their own enterprise (FUBU ?). The "green" legistlation, the Healthcare travesty, and many of the other attempts by Pelosi, Reid, and Obama to bury small to mid-size business is killing these black businesses. They know it. No amount of placating and references to "I spoke with the NAACP and they said it's okay" by the likes of Barbara Boxer or Frankenfeinstein can shield that truth.
I still have great hope for this country. I also believe that current generation of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines represent one of our greatest.

I just wish they would raise the voting age to something like 25. Give kids an opportunity to go to college, get a career, buy a home, find a spouse, start a family, etc. Not all these things need to be done. People will choose different paths. However, anyone who has done most or all of these things generally has gained enough life experience to where they can be afforded the OPPORTUNITY to vote. There will be a lot less "I am voting for Person A because of the color of their skin" or "I am voting for Person B because of their gender."

Re: Obama rallies in Boston for Martha Coakley
In most elections people under 22 are the smallest voting demographic and those that do exercise the right to do so are often better informed (but just as often misguided) as to the issues than many of the older people who are also voting. I figure if you're old enough to die for your country you deserve to have say who may send you off to do so.IndyFrisco wrote:I just wish they would raise the voting age to something like 25. I knew the first thing someone would bring is the die for your country angle. And I agree it is a valid point. However, I only speak from personal experience, and it was my experience that at 18 years of age, I cared more about how I was going to score a 12 pack than who was running the country and what policies they would pursue. I'm sure there were plenty of other 18 year olds who felt the same way. I don't know the stats nor care to look them up, but I do know once I dropped the college kid act and responsibility came knocking on my door, I let it in. Then and only then would I have ever trusted myself to make a vote. I'm sure there are some 18 year old kids who are well informed and/or guided/misguided. I'd venture to guess they are few and far between compared to to 18 year old kid I described as myself back then.

Well that probably won't happen. It was lowered in 1971
"You're old enough to kill, but not for votin"
Trust the process. Color, especially the story of blacks in this country is vital for now - in my opinion - I look at blacks in this country and their history.
I take from it this. If - collectively - they didn't lose hope in the face of slavery and the obstacles put before them by the White Anglo Saxon Protestant regime (North and South). Who the fuck am I too lose hope ?
Nobody. Have heart.

Re: Obama rallies in Boston for Martha Coakley
Yeah, I missed that part of life to be honest so I can't really comment toward a "typical" 18 year old. :( I was too busy worried about getting enough credits to graduate and whether I was going to take a job offer in Pittsburgh or in Richmond. My fiance was old enough to buy the beer in our household so it wasn't an issue. I'll have to concede the "typical" argument to those more experienced in the matter. All I can do is speak from my past and I was a pretty damn well informed voter when I came to voting age but it probably had more to do with the sort of household I was raised in and the fact I was well ahead of my peers in life to that point.IndyFrisco wrote:I knew the first thing someone would bring is the die for your country angle. Just lower the drinking age to 18 when you raise the voting age (with an exemption for anyone in uniform, of course).

Let's approach this with a bit of honesty. The GOP has so completely fucked up this country--and the world--that the notion of giving any of these robotic tea bagging weirdos another term in a significant office is basically unthinkable. Unless you don't think--and instead just act in the manner of a terrified child.

The very idea of Ted Kennedy's seat being snatched by some tea bagging robot only a year after Barry Khan snakes his way to a senate and house majority.....is so harrowing that I shudder for our nation. Forget your tired either/or bullshit as to "democrats' and "republicans." This signals a completion of what is tantamount to an alien invasion of our species. Are we surprised that this robot would be heartily endorsed by the pride of Area 51

The funniest part is the massatwoshits dems did all this to themselves.
Their absolutely shameless handling of the special elections laws is biting them in the ass hard. First, they changed it a few years back to fukk romney, when it looked like lurch might need replacing. Then they switch it back last year when it became obvious that old fat drunk murderer dude was about to expire.
Ofcourse, old fat drunk murderer dude could have had a bit of forthought and decency, for the first time in his life and stepped down last year. The candidate of the dems chosing would have waltzed into office on barry's coattails last november.
Now, fat boy's dead, barry's coattails are on fire and the mass dem machine is the political laughing stock of the universe. I'll bet lurch is wondering about his chances next time around.

Martha supports a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Martha knows that a safe and secure Israel is part of the foundation of a stable Middle East, and thus America’s national security. In Washington, Martha will help continue the ongoing and gravely important work of developing a workable two-state solution so we all finally know peace in that region.
