Just got back from seeing Agnostic Front at the Yucca for the low, low price of free. My ears are still ringing. The whole goddamn place was a mosh pit. Rack the everloving shit out of free live punk rock on a Wednesday night.

I'm probably the wrong person to ask on that one. Never heard any Mission of Burma.
I'm not much of a punk fan either, outside of the old NYHC/crossover stuff like Agnostic, DRI, Cryptic Slaughter, etc. Considering this show was free and less than 1/4-mile from my house, I felt like my hesher card might get revoked if I didn't make an appearance.

Mike, sounds like a good show.
i'd very much like to see Mission of Burma, though i wouldn't really classify them as "punk" in the same way as other bands mentioned in the thread. they came up in a Boston scene that was mostly punk oriented and feeding off the DC scene at the time....and anything with overt, non-proto MTV/non-consumer society or working class politics was labeled punk. they have some punk elements and certainly influenced a lot of "punk" type bands but live shows are generally more mind-shearingly loud sonic experiments and the songs, too. rather than fast and aggressive, their live stuff is more noisy, erratic and loud.
the big "second coming" reunion for them was in the early 00's after breaking up in 82 or something. they've made a couple studio LP's since then and a re-mastered set of the old stuff came out in 08. but, any live shows from them are exceptional because guitarist and founding member Roger Miller suffers from tinnitus (extreme noise sensitivity and internal ear problems).

Any band Mike Watt is playing in > Mission Of Burma > Agnostic Front
and that's not to say I don't like Agnostic Front

apparently Watt is re-energized in his own words after playing with the re-formed Stooges. not exactly how that, his obit for Ron Asheton, and Missingmen fit into a thing about Mission of Burma. current tour is about the first he's had in a while that was "doing something new", including banyon.
Watt was cruising for a while being "Mike Watt". which is cool, but let's not just say *anything* Mike Watt does is better than Mission of Burma. because that's absurd.
I'm about the biggest minuteman fan there is. firehose had some pretty weak stuff.

Was digging around in here and came across several MoB shows:

Great site, by the way. Takes some work, but you can find all kinds of great shows in here. Gotta wade thru some bad tapings, but I've downloaded a pile of stuff over the years.
that's pretty cool. thanks Sam.
