Well dressed coaches.
Why is it that coaches in the NBA and NHL wear sharp suits and stylish haircuts, but NFL coaches dress like they bought all their gear at a souvenir stand?

This week's EPL matches had me scratching my head wondering if managers in England are now shopping at Bill Parcells' Big 'N Tall. I guess the potato sack look finally made it over there.

It's the Madden effect. Somehow the equation was made that you have to look like a fat cunt in a bathrobe to appreciate a violent, contact sport.
This runs counter to the 'James Bond' effect perfected by Mr. Landry.

Re: Well dressed coaches.
the one that gets me is baseball.
hey old man, you ain't goin' in. stop dressing like there's a chance you'll get into the lineup.
i realize it's tradition and all, and it goes back to a time when there were many player managers, but, that hasn't happened in quite some time. I think Pete Rose may have been the last to do it.
i know back in the da there were a few managers that wore suits. connie mack did.....for about 70 years. i think there might have been a few others. does anyone know who was the last manager to not suit up for a game?
one other question. why does every other sport have coaches while baseball has managers?

That, plus the fact that you probably don't own a real suit, you corn-fed hick.Mace wrote:Personally, I suppose that I enjoy putting on the uniform before a game because it takes me back, in some small way, to my playing days, but I don't think anything about wearing a uniform. It's just something that you do and tradition is undoubtedly a big part of it.

This is considered a sport coat where I come from. Can be worn either during the day or night, or when feeding the cows. In the case of this thread, whilst coaching pro sports also. Glad I could help.

Bad spelling is a diversionary tactic
Re: Well dressed coaches.
It's because Reebok doesn't have an exclusive contract with the NBA & NHL and so can't dictate what the coaches have to wear on the sidelinesMartyred wrote:Why is it that coaches in the NBA and NHL wear sharp suits and stylish haircuts, but NFL coaches dress like they bought all their gear at a souvenir stand?

No way in hell this guy should be seen in a suit on the sidelines. The pants would be split by halftime.
