This is the day I heard the "hammer" is supposed to fall on USC. The NCAA is supposed to announce their findings and punishment and I've heard everything from slap on the wrist to major sanctions. As I stated before, this is the one chance the NCAA has to show some teeth and punish an elite program if there was actual wrong doing found. We all know they are guilty in the court of public opinion, but it is going to be interesting to see how the NCAA rules. If they let USC off with a slap on the wrist, they have basically given the green light for all major programs to do whatever they want knowing they won't be severly punished. If they hammer them with sanctions that include scholarship losses, postseason bans, etc., then they will be sending a message to the rest of college football.
What say you? Do you think they will be sanctioned and if so, to what degree?
My opinin is that they will suffer a fate similar to Miami of the mid-90's. They will lose scholarships, may have to vacate some wins and set the program into a rebuilding mode for 3-5 years.

I would hope that the NCAA would come down on them hard to send a message, but I think they'll puss out.

When this is the sum total of the charges against the USC football program...
-A player and his step-dad were given gifts by an agent who was attempting to poach said player from the program.
-A player was seen driving a used vehicle legally owned by his girlfriend. The girlfriend obtained the vehicle by means of a straw-purchase made for her by her employer.
-That same player was thought to have received a phone call during his recruitment process from a former player, in violation of NCAA rules. That charge was long ago dismissed.
...exactly how much of a hammer would you expect to see dropped on the football program? That's not exactly a murderer's row of allegations. Am I missing any?

Any idea as to what those missing ones might be?

I'm sure all that evidence is sealed with the truth regarding the Kennedy assassination.

Nope, the infraction committee is still meeting, and it will be 8-10 weeks before we find out if there is any punishment given. Way to speed things along, NCAA.
