Yep,

No teams from the Elite ACC for the Elite 8 will upset the ratings and powers that be in ESPN.

ESPNACC workers would have been on suicide watch if Villanova would have won.

I would agree that wasn't traveling, but 'Nova had their chance to put us away and shot themselves out of the game. Survive and advance baby

I was watching the Kentucky-Utah game so I didn't get to see a lot of the UNC game. However, when I saw that traveling call I said "No way is that called if that was North Carolina." I don't see how they make a traveling call. I wouldn't have called a foul on UNC, but I certainly would have at least given Nova the basket. It reminds me of the Texas-Kansas football game. The refs cost Kansas the game because they made a call that would NEVER be called against Texas. And the refs cost Nova the game last night because they made a call against Villanova that would never be called against UNC.

Like you said Jon, you didn't watch the game so you can't say the refs cost Nova the game. Let's say they score the goal and no foul was called, Nova's still down by one. Like I said earlier, Novas had their chances, but couldn't find the hole.

Its just like all other sports. Select officiating, the refs pick, and choose what to call, and what to allow. I agree had the roles been reversed theres no way traveling gets called.

I didn't see the game, but come on, there is no way they call a traveling on UNC. Not a chance in hell would Felton, McCants, etc get called for a carry in that situation. That's what I have the biggest problem with. When the ref called a traveling, that pretty much ended Nova's chances. That was the only part of the game I got to see.

RACK that!

'Nova played a damn good game, but the rushed a good number of their shots in latter part of the second half.

And that wasn't a foul on Miami against OSU in the title game either was it? Let those of us who know football officiating make the calls and you can stick to flag football calls. Both were clearly fouls and correctly called. In fact both officials were graded highly for the calls. But don't let facts get in your way.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I agree that the call against Kansas was pass interference. That's not my problem. My problem is the fact that the same would NOT have been called against Texas. You know damn well that refs, regardless of the level or the sport, make favorable calls towards certain programs/teams. Being a ref/ump is not easy, and I have no problem with mistakes being made. I do have a problem with refs calling games differently to favor certain teams/players. And if you can't see that many refs do that, you're not paying attention.

And, for the record, that was NOT a travel by Villanova. Plain and simple.

Give me one name in college football right now Jon or shut your hole. All I want is one example of a guy who passed on the exact same call that he called against an opponent.

Do that and I will send you some RICE gear.

I don't even know if I can name more than a couple college football refs. And I don't care to know there names. The only reason I know Tom Ahlers (Big-12 official) is because he used to live in my neighborhood and because his daughter has some big ass titties and a really nice ass. Other than him, I don't really care to know their names.

I'm not saying there's a conspiracy against the not-so-popular teams. But you can't tell me that if, let's say, Michigan and Northwestern face off in Ann Arbor, the game is going to be reffed completely fair.

Do I think most refs are like that? No. But I'm also not so naive to think that when Michigan and Northwestern play (just sticking to the example from above) that questionable calls aren't almost always going to go in Michigan's favor. Or is it just some sort of coincidence that most questionable calls in games like Michigan v N'Western happen to go in favor of the more popular team??

In the Kansas-Texas game, I cannot think of any call off the top of my head exactly like that. But if I really wanted to, I'm sure I could find much evidence to prove my theory that calls like that in that situation would not go against Texas.

I listened to a lot of radio shows after the Kansas-Texas game and I noticed that a lot of people were thinking the exact same thing I was thinking after I saw that play.....that no way would that be called against Texas. Everyone I was watching the game with basically echoed my thoughts. I have yet to find anyone not associated with the Big-12 or college football refs to dispute anything that Mark Mangino said after the game.

I will say this, I don't think college football refs are even close to as corrupt as college basketball refs. I do realize how difficult it is to ref a Division 1 football game. But you will NEVER be able to convince me that there aren't quite a few college basketball refs that are either corrupt or are out to just make a name for themselves and get their pie-holes on TV (ie The Tower).

If you were willing to take your ref goggles off and watch a couple games like a Northwestern v Michigan or a Texas v Kansas game and just count how many calls that are questionable (calls that could go either way or are very tough to determine in real-time) and then see what percentage of the calls happens to go in favor of the more popular team.

Sticking with your Michigan v Northwestern example Jon. Guess which conferences I aspire to someday work in as a D-1 official? No it isn't the Big XII. Nope not the conf RICE happens to be in. It is the Big 11 or SEC.

I want to work in those conferences because I am not really a fan of either. I have too much of a rooting intrest in the Big XII and I would want to avoid any linking with RICE whatsoever. So getting back to your question I know I could make the same call against Mich as I could against NW. I also think that 99% of the officials in the Big 11 could/would and do.

And save me what you heard on the radio. The callers are bad enough, but hell even the hosts don't know what the hell they are talking about. How many times in our home boards over the past few years have we pointed out how wrong the TV announcers were.

Show me a supervisor of officials or the like making those statements. Not some coach right after a game whose team just choked away a win, or some talking head.
