From the article:
J. McDaniels:
The situation with Ryan (Clady) is not ideal
Yes, lol, a 50% shredded patellar tendon is not ideal.

Broncos' Dumervil could be out up to five months with pectoral injury
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- Denver Broncos pass rusher Elvis Dumervil's season might be sacked by a torn chest muscle.
A person familiar with the injury to Dumervil told The Associated Press on Thursday that the reigning NFL sacks king could be sidelined for up to five months, making it difficult for Dumervil to return this season. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The 26-year-old Dumervil led the league with 17 sacks in 2009 and
parlayed his breakout season into a five-year, $58.332 million extension last month that included $43.168 million in guarantees against injury

Outside linebackers in the 3-4 are as close to a fungible position as there is on defense. The Steelers have gone through a shitload of outside backers since they went to the 3-4 and almost never missed a beat. Hell, they had James Harrison on ice for 3 years before Porter left and now they have a kid they drafted in the 2nd round this year (Jason Worilds) who is by all reports picking up things quickly and will be groomed to be Harrison's replacement . I'm sure McDaniels has some young stud that nobody outside of the Broncos fan base has ever heard of waiting to fill that spot. And if he doesn't, he's not a very good coach.

I'm sure he doesn't and, yes, he isn't a very good coach. Linebacker was a critical need for them going into the draft and they didn't draft a single one. Now they're just lost their best one.

We'll just have to see. They wrote off the Broncos last year about this time. All things considered that worked out fairly well.

You mean a business as usual midseason crash and burn going 2-8 down the stretch? The only people who think last season worked out fairly well for Denver are in San Diego, KC and Oakland.
Oh yeah, they didn't draft a linebacker last year either. The last linebacker they drafted (in the 6th round of 2008) now plays fullback. Not really sure where you got the idea that elite pass rushers are a fungible commodity on defense, but that doesn't seem to be a particularly well informed statement. You
do realize that Dumervil lead the league in sacks last year, right?
The reason the Squealers can succesfully cycle through linebackers is that they draft them by the bushel (5 in the last three drafts). You have to if you run a 3-4.

You DO realize that the West is in deep doo-doo, right, mvscal?
It's only a question of WHEN the donks choose to trot out the Chosen One in the Wild Jesus formation...

Actually the Steelers usually draft DEs and convert them to LB. Looking at the Broncos roster, they have plenty of young linebackers. By my count they have 8 players listed at LB with 3 or less years experience. So they must be doing something.
