OCmike's Humpday (+2) Challenge
There is only one rule:
No more than one correctly asnwered question per person, per hour.
Questions that have been answered correctly will be bolded out.

2. By late 1944, Germany's Volksgrenadiers were mostly made of which demographics?
3. Who was drafted directly after the recently released Jamarcus Russell in the 2007 draft?
4. What modestly-talented Eagles WR dubbed himself "The Peoples' Champion".

Sure, I'll go ahead and pluck the low-hanging fruit...
Calvin Johnson... although hindsight being 20/20, Joe Thomas, Patrick Willis, and All Day seem like the ones to have from that class.

A dome like that when used for maritime purposes has a specific name. It's all over the news, so this isn't some inside squid lingo. :D

Yep, as well as conscripts from other countries Germany had invaded.
I'm currently reading "Alamo in the Ardennes", which is about the loosely scattered US troops that had to hold off 250,000 krauts and about 1,000 panzers at the beginning of The Battle of The Bulge. Everyone knows the story of the 101st Airborne at Bastogne (Band of Brothers), but those guys would have been decimated where it not for several thousand US troops that held the line at the Our river as long as possible before being completely overrun. And they weren't just fighting Volksgrenadiers. The huge force was also made up of highly-decorated troops and Panzer brigades from the Battle of Stalingrad.

No, it's Dr, Pepper. Your answer was voided because it pegged the gayometer anyway,.
That's rule #2: Don't do gay stuff. It's one of many unwritten HDC rules.
So the problem is that ou zoomed right past straight, effeminate and bi-curious all the way to bi-serious.
So I guess if you still wanna play just untuck your junk, lower your voice and mix a Bob Seger reference in there somewhere and no one will know your secret.

So what's the answer on #10?
10. Joe Pavelski of the San Jose Sharks scored two goals in two straight games against the Red Wings. Who was the last player to have back-to-back multi-goal games in the NHL playoffs?
Pavelski had three straight multi-goal games, and I know Lemieux was the last to do that, something like 17 or 18 years ago. I couldn't figure out if anyone else had back-to-back multi-goal games in the interim.

Yep, Lemieux is right. It was '92 or '93. Seeing how I literally stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night, it sucks that I can't remember which of those is correct this morning.

A really cool looking tree that sheds its bark as it ages, leaving smooth wood as its outside surface. Native to temperate Western North America, and is very common on the North Portland Peninsula (some bigazz old fuckers). Keeps it's leaves just about year-round. Extremely dense wood.

Yep. Never heard it called a strawberry tree either. My grandfather was a professional woodworker who loved making Roadies to the U & L for madrone.
BTW, the reason I left a bunch unmarked is that I was ass-deep in a stream feeding a sluice box. That shit is good for the soul even if you only pull out $50/day.

We have something called a strawberry tree in our yard. Though it's apparently related (
Arbutus unedo vs.
Arbutus menziesii, it's definitely a different plant.

Mikey -- those leaves are indeed quite similar to a madrone, but madrone doesn't produce berries anything like that.

The madrone seems to get a lot bigger too. Our strawberry tree is a very cool looking plant with gnarly trunk and stuff, but it's probably 20 years old and has never gotten more than about 10 or 12 feet tall.
I'm thinking it can be trained as either a shrub or a small tree.

For sure -- some of the Madrones (often pronounced "mad-rone-UH") here in North Portland (where I am now) are pretty massive. It's the old ones that have no bark, and just show what looks like varnished hardwood on the outside of the trunk... very cool.
Mikey wrote:I'm thinking it can be trained as a shrub.
That'd be a neat trick if you could get a freaking tree to drive a Rascal and make phone calls at all hours.
And just think of all the owls it would attract.

I just read on some site that they like acid soil. In this case I'm thinking it would be a good idea to mash up some vicodins with the Miracle-Gro.
