No need to say "We're Sorry!"

All in all there are 104,366 American soldiers formally burried in England, France, Belgium, Italy, etc.

These brave men died helping our friends in Europe. I doubt we would see the same today if our shores were invaded.

So tomorrow remember those who gave their life so ourselves and Europe have the freedom we enjoy today. And thank those that continue to serve today.

WE DON'T ASK FOR PRAISE ... BUT WE HAVE ABSOULUTELY NO NEED TO APOLOGIZE!! Too bad our President doesn't get this.

Thank you all who have served.

Depends on what was in it for them...

Went today to visit my fathers grave, along with my sister who drove up from Tulsa. They give out American flags free for the asking when you enter the cemetary. I was glad to plant that right above his headstone along with the flowers sis brought along.

Dad never went overseas in WW II. He guarded German prisoners at Fort Leavenworth.

L-seat, not all wars or military actions are the same. Of course we should apologize profusely for our ghastly attack upon Vietnam, for example. We murdered over a million people and ruined countless lives in an insane imperialist action of demented aggression. It was a horrible international war crime of the first rank, and about 58,000 American GI's died committing it. Many had no choice as they were drafted, etc.

We similarly owe a tremendous apology to the nation of Iraq, as well as Panama, Dominican Republic, and various other nations we've invaded and despoiled over the years, murdering and terrorizing millions of innocent people.

Wake the fuck up!

Who did Obama apologize to?

The thousands of Pakistanis and Afghan civilians he obliterated with Hellfire missiles and Predator drone strikes?

I must have missed it.

Lefty, I'm not so sure European countries would stand by and watch us be invaded. I think Britain at least would come to our aid.

Having said that, US involvement in the Great Wars occurred on a scale never seen before and probably one that will never be seen again. Our fighting forces did quite a lot of good work in those years.

I salute all those who have served.

Nice job politicizing Memorial Day. I guess someone had to do it.

Not sure I caught where Obama apologized for the war in Europe.

Anybody have a link?

I wonder if he apologized for deploying missiles to Eastern Europe?

Nope...he didn't apologize for that either.

Don't listen to these haters, Lefty. I had that same email forwarded to me as well. I can't believe that monkey POTUS is going to let BP dig up all those soldiers' bones to use for their next junk shot.

Are Waffen SS soldiers "heroes" too, regardless of the fact that their side lost?

I guess that would depend on whose side you're on, wouldn't it?

Any side can mourn their dead...history will decide which fought the noble, moral cause.

I visited the Aisne-Marne American WWII Cemetery in France in 1987. I was part of an exchange student group on the way back from a day trip and the driver thought that it would be a good experience for us to pay our respects to American war dead.

I was only 16 at the time and was really taken aback when looking at seemingly endless rows of soldiers just a couple of years older than I was who had died fighting for their country.

RACK the vets and RACK that bus driver.

That's a WW1 memorial actually.

Crap. I couldn't remember the name, but saw pics of A-M on a website and the main buildings looked familiar.

Thanks for catching that though. I'm genuinely interested in figuring out which one it was. It's a couple of hours outside of Paris on the way to Saarbrucken, Germany, but that obviously leaves plenty of possibilities.

That would be Lorraine American Cemetary.

No real excuse and that IS a slap in the face to our military and the families who lost loved ones
Yeah, but didn't Biden go?

Obama went to a cemetary in Illinois, reckon that counts as well.

Okay...I get the "WE WON'T APOLOGIZE!" rhetoric now...

It seems it's been making the rounds on right wing blogs/talk radio.

Ahhh, Americans...so predictable...

I think it's much ado about nothing. Arlington isn't the only place where veterans are buried. Abe Lincoln Nat'l Cemetary is an appropriate venue. If Pres__ent Hussein wants to go there, I really don't see a problem with it.
