Speaking of "Stairway to Heaven", one year MrsO and I were invited to the Senior Ball for the senior class at the school where I taught. I think it was because I had a senior home room that year 1976 or so. Anyway the theme of the ball was, yes--- "Stairway to Heaven" as I guess the kids thought it was a cool idea. Not only was it the them, but they had the band they hired for the night play it --EVERY SET ! Well of course, by the 3rd time no one wanted to hear it again and I'm sure the band didn't want to play it again.
Check this Wiki bit:
By 1975, the song had a regular place as the finale of every Led Zeppelin concert. However, after their concert tour of the United States in 1977, Plant began to tire of "Stairway to Heaven": "There's only so many times you can sing it and mean it ... It just became sanctimonious."[20]

Quite a coup for you to be able get Van Morrison to reunite his band to play a senior ball.Wolfman wrote:Not only was it the them, but they had the band they hired for the night play it --EVERY SET !

Re: Morning radio is on
Either way, I would've posed as a senior to get in, even though I would've only been a sophomore. Or I woulda had to kick the ol' Smackie charm up a notch to land a senior hottie for a date. If subtlety didn't work, I'd just have to play the crank shot card. Never fails.Dinsdale wrote:I think he was confusing them with the ealy incarnation of The The.Smackie Chan wrote:Quite a coup for you to be able get Van Morrison to reunite his band to play a senior ball.Wolfman wrote:Not only was it the them, but they had the band they hired for the night play it --EVERY SET !
