Been looking forward to this all summer. I'm taking Tuesday and Wednesday off, so I'll have some time to do some shit and see some people. I'm gonna try to hit up Katz's Deli in the LES. It's at Terminal 5, which I hear sucks, but is a 3k seat venue.

I really like the new album, and their 2008 show was incredible. They are a fine, fine band.

Props Screw for getting into the city to see these guys. Really like the new album as well, too bad I shit the bed on tickets. Make sure you hit up Paul's Da Burger Joint in the EV, it's money.

Shit, my head's in the freaking clouds. Got this one mixed up with The National later in the month that's sold out already. Nice, gonna pick up two duckets for this one. These guys are badass.

The show was a 10/10, as incredible as I expected. Absolutely worth burning two vacation days to make the trip north. It is impossible to understate how AWESOME the new album is live. I have a boot from April that I have probably listened to a few hundred times now, yet I was blown away by Ghost Pressure. Great song live but it was even better last night. Palm Road is an instant live staple and the surprise of the night was Fine Young Cannibals. This Heart's On Fire never gets old. I prefer the original 2006 version of Soldier's Grin (then called Bed's Exploding) so I wish they'd stop playing that so often and throw in a Grey Estates, Animal in Your Care, It's a Curse and Language City, etc.

But the encore was awesome. At WP shows, you're just physically drained from the energy. Not that you're really just tired (I hate weeknight shows, guess we're old now). Think of it this way: WP is basically a part-time band. Spencer and Dan are even more involved in their solo stuff, so Wolf Parade is basically their big money side project. That's awesome. I had to explain to my friend last night that there is not just one singer in the band (she was bitching about Spencer's voice, I was taken aback), there are two and that they basically write their own songs, play them together and split alum time. Their individual dynamics together totally define their work. Good shit.

Pretty good assessment, Screw. I discovered this band a little late, but find myself playing their stuff a lot (as well as some of their other work under different names-- Sunset Rubdown comes to mind). Fantastic show. Big fan of the Soldier's Grin tune so I liked that they opened with that one. Picked me up a sweet WP t-shirt on the way out too. Would definitely see these guys again if they are back in NYC.

I'm more into the Handsome Furs than Sunset Rubdown when it comes to WP side projects. Furs are a little more straight forward, Rubdown is a little to experimental for me.

In 2006, before I really went into the tank for Wolf Parade, I had a chance to see them at this 150-person capacity venue in Kalamazoo. But of course, I relied on a friend to get tickets and she didn't come through. Talk about "if I could do things differently."

L45B, MgoFuckstick:

Live WP from the Cincinnasti show a couple weeks ago. Good recording, just needs to be turned up.
