Depends on who you ask. Jackson county voters approved a 3/8 cent sales tax increase to fund the renovations and some residents were and are quite understandably upset about it, s'up Scotty? But the residents of the other 5 or 6 metro counties are quite impressed, epecially the rich fucks in Johnson County, Kansas who are the majority of season ticket holders.

A roof woulda guaranteed a Final Four or three - in the tradition of Kansas City – and possibly a SuperBowl. Didn’t happen. Teams ain’t goin’ nowhere anyhow. Is what it is...

The sheep in our county did just that because of those scare tactics....I voted AGAINST the stadium upgrade tax because they could've built a BRAND NEW stadium for the Royals downtown and provided Arrowhead with a rolling cover for what they spent "renovating" those two cribs. Having said that, the "K" looks amazing now and has a lot more amenities....and I can't judge Arrowhead yet until I go to a game this season and see for myself what all was "upgraded".

Well, now, nice to see the Korean Penninsula weigh in on this topic...
Why is it that the Raiders are the ONLY team that could comfortably play home games in Pyongyang? Could it be the razor wire surrounding the field and the machine-gun turrets stationed at each gate that would make the experience so reminiscent of the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum?
I suppose if Clark Hunt and the Chiefs had added an interactive meth-lab, homeless shelter, and soup-kitchen concession to the Arrowhead renovation, you Primer-'n-Grease-types might feel right at home. Pity. Sucks to be you....

Nevertheless, the City and the Chargers appear to be planning a new stadium using public monies. The cost of a new San Diego stadium at the currently hypothesized downtown site is now estimated to be $800 million. The Chargers are proposing to invest about $200 million to build a 62,000 seat stadium, with the balance to come from: $500 million, and $100 million from a National Football League (NFL) financing program. However, the NFL funding is apparently not available, so the public financing could be about $600 million. Moreover, with the latest construction proposal, a retractable roof2, the $800 million estimate may well be significantly low. The new roofed stadium of the Dallas Cowboys that opened in 2009 cost $1.2 billion, of which owner Jerry Jones put up $800 million.
Going out on a Sequoia here, but here's guessing that your city government has a weather-eye out for the threat of the second largest media market in America lurking just up the street to boost your team.
Look familiar?

Not my city team. The Chargers have been trying to get a new stadium for years and nobody wants to bite on public funding. In LA there is absolutely no chance in hell of a publicly funded stadium happening. Of course if you weren't such a worthless cunt you would have posted the rest of the report which was highly skeptical of the use of public funding in San Diego.
Needless to say, this isn't about the Chargers. This is about the dumb hick lardasses who bent over for Clar Khunt. The attempt to change the subject is just another bitch move from a worthless cunt.

Lotta Revisionist, grumpy-ass, curmudgeonly-malcontent-types up in this bitch….
Tell ya what, Paulie: If either you or Scottie can link me up to the ballot language presented to the Good Taxpayers of Jackson County, Missouri, suggesting an up-and-down decision to build a downtown baseball stadium for the Royals AND a retractable roof football stadium for the Chiefs, then I will freely admit that I pissed down my leg when I voted for renovation.
Take your time.
Bottom Line: Such language NEVER existed. Sweet Christ. I cannot believe that we’re still arguing this….
The stadium leases were horribly out of compliance. You need look to look no further than the Kansas Speedway – stolen out from under Wags’s purview – to see that Wyco, KCK and the Legends were poised to snatch the Chiefs.
As for the Royals… Despite Scott’s assertions, do you SERIOUSLY doubt that the likes of San Antonia, Charlotte, Oke City, and half-a-dozen other mid-market American municipalities wouldn’t warp-speed a ballot issue through to build a stadium to house the Royals? If you do, then you’re dumber than a whole cargo-container ship full of mvscals.
Look, Bro, there was not a bigger proponent for downtown baseball and a brand-new, built-from-scratch, retractable roof New Arrowhead. A shiny new “K” would’ve been the Crown Jewel for a revitalized City Center, and, given our history and one of the best college basketball host committees in the country, a new retractable roof Arrowhead would’ve easily played into the regular Final Four rotation along with Indy.
I suppose the happy news is we get to vote on all this shit all over again in about 25 years. Our failing as a county was that Arrowhead and the K were built too well. Blue hair voters in Independence were bent on preserving “tradition”. Whatever. The County Fair in the K’s outfield will eventually run thin, and Clark Hunt will soon have his hand out demanding new revenue streams. The K will never be Wrigley or Fenway. Unfortunately, it’s gonna be up to our kids to get it right....

Yep.
Originally, there were plans to build the track out near KCI and that would've been fantastic. Yet somehow WYCO ripped that jewel from our grasp, along with all the other peripheral development that came along with it, including the new soccer stadium and casino under construction.
Think about it. A state where you can't buy 5% beer in a grocery store scammed KCMO out of hundreds of millions in construction dollars and all the taxes that would have been flowing into Missouri coffers. They've got a freaking Nebraska furniture mart, for Lamars sake. Well, I'd sooner drive to the one in Omaha than spend one dollar in Kansas.

That is the date that the grand jury report was filed. The team has been well acquainted with the facts and findings contained in the report long before last month which is why they have been exploring other options. The findings are nonstarters from a tax leach point of view.
10-46: If public financing is to be employed for the construction of a new downtown stadium for the Chargers, demand a lease with terms that will protect the City such as a long-term lease with fixed rent sufficient to cover any public indebtedness incurred by the City or the City of San Diego Redevelopment Agency, with no credits, no risk of cost overruns and control of the use of the stadium for other City and City contracted events.
In other words, the team would be on the hook for the entire cost.
A publicly funded stadium in city of San Diego is not going to happen. The city got buttfucked in the last deal. They won't bend over for it again.

Well, Jesus-on-a-Ferris-wheel, Marcuscott, no fucking shit. What YOU conveniently neglected in your rant is the ROI that our major-league sports franchises have on our town. Truly mind-bending that you would be content to pay the freight in the form of new taxes for higher energy costs under Federal Cap and Trade in the name of junk science, as well as subsidize an Unwritten Right in the name of Federal Healthcare Reform, yet scream like a little girl at the thought of an existing 3/8th cent sales tax extended to fund a Local community asset. If you are truly this bent on seeing your tax dollars subsidize the town’s franchises, then I would suggest that you seriously consider pulling up stakes and heading for Des Moines or Omaha. You won’t have to worry about nettlesome major league sports franchises subjugating your tax dollars there, and you will still be able to catch the home teams on TV that we poor slobs have elected to support.

What part of no public funds will be used to build the Chargers a stadium in San Diego or LA are you struggling to comprehend? Just because you were dumb enough to believe Clar Khunt when he told you it was just raining after blowing his load on your face, it doesn't mean that people elsewhere in the nation are equally stupid.

What is this even supposed to mean? Of course he wants a new stadium, he just wants somebody else to pay for it. His contentment or lack thereof is not going to get him any public funding for a new stadium, tard.
If he wants a new stadium in San Diego, he's going to have to finance it himself.
