CU went 1-11, with their only win coming in the finale against Nebraska. After much speculation, AD Mike Bohn said he's "seeing progress" and retained Hawkins for one more year. This year, we sneak into the Pac 12 CCG with a 6-6 record, pull an upset against the mighty Cal Bears and then roll through the playoffs, only to lose to Michigan in the Super Bowl. Hawkins gets a 6-year extension.

Notre Dame goes 12-0, then beats Alabama in the national championship game to win its first national title since 1988.
Thereafter, Jack Swarbrick resigns as AD to become the GM of the Indianapolis Colts. He is replaced by Kevin White, who promptly announces that Notre Dame will be joining the MAC.
