Let's see. Injury occurs in January. Waits til May to have surgery. Why? Because the 6-8 week recovery will get him good to go just after camp breaks.
Dude doesn't even have the sack to just man up and say he does not want to go to training camp, and if the team does not like it, he's gone. Of course, that may mean a fine. Hence, all the drama.

Favre has a chance to be the first QB for throw for 70,000 yards and 500 TDs. I would be amazed if he passed on those milestones.

Big faker...even if he was declared dead, I'd still expect to see him pop out of the ground after the funeral. Call me when on Week 1 and if his hands aren't under John Sullivan's ass...I'll believe it.

Especially considering the year he had last season. Oh yeah, and the chance to be the first grandpa to start an NFL game.

He's from Mississippi. Down there they're grandpas by age 30. Had to have happened already.
Even so, I said after the NFC championship game that he wouldn't be back this year. He got the fuck beat out of him and I don't think he wants another year of that. Plus, at age 40 it's entirely possible that the ankle is not healing up the way he'd like.

Farve is an amazing competitor. He probably feels the Vikes shoulda' won that game (as they should have) and wants another shot at it.
He'll be back.

Until the words "I'm retiring from the NFL" comes out of Fav-ruh's gaping maw (and there's video to prove it), this is all bullshit.

Hell, you can still call bullshit even after you get video proof. 2008 and 2009 out front should've told ya.

Here it is. Bye bye Brett. Nice knowing you.

For 2008 that is. Produce a video from THIS year with Brett tearing up about retiring from the VIKINGS.
I'll wait.

I'll preface this take by saying that Favre is a me-guy @sshole and I've been sick of his act for at least five years.
I don't give a shit if he plays, doesn't play, or dies in a fire.
That out of the way ...
I question whether he, at age 40, can make it through a 16 game season.
I suspect he questions it, also.
Those milestones Bri made note of - 70,000 yards and 500 TDs - can be had by playing just a handful of games.
Right now he's on 69,329 and 497.
It wouldn't surprise me to have this play out where Favre sits out the first 4-8 games of the season, claiming slow injury recovery.
He then comes back and takes over, playing the last 8-or-so games - hoping to lead the 'Queens to ultimate paydirt.

Except for the fact that they have a number of tough games in the first half of the season, and if he sits them out, they might have a tough shot at anything other than a wild card.

Favre's drama queen bullshit is the most tired routine in sports. Quit or don't quit, shithead.

I was at a baseball game last night and was checking news on my phone. I saw the headline on the ESPN page and just started laughing. It seems earlier than I would've expected.
