CBSSports.com has compiled a ranking for the top college teams that have the best combined football and basketball programs. Not surprisingly Florida came in #1, followed by Texas and tOSU. At #4, Wisconsin.

After doing the statistical research, we were rather surprised at just how well Wisconsin showed in both sports. Nothing flashy, just solid results year in and year out. And they do so without the high-profile recruits you find at other major college programs. They're the epitome of blue collar teams.

Two words:

UF bball has only been a shade above mediocre for some time now. They play in the worst major conference in college basketball, and still have to claw their way into the dance routinely. Noah and Brewer are long gone. Time to let it go. OSU or Texas are more deserving of the top spot, as trivial as that recognition may be.

Texas had a lot of talent last year and while very young one could argue they underachieved in hoops. author seems to place a lot of weight on "winning a bowl game" which, certainly as OU fan ( :wink: ), seems less important than which bowl you play in. is winning the week before Christmas better than qualifying for and then losing a BCS bowl?

When should we expect Wisconsin to win something? Yes, in hoops and football they often post respectable seasons...any chance they translate that into champ-style success?

If you’re talking about national championships, it would take a very special season. I don’t see it ever happening in basketball as long as Bo is there. Football is a possibility but they can’t have any letdowns. In 2006 they might have done it but for the single loss to Michigan.

Considering that they don’t pull any of the premier national recruits in either sport, they’ve definitely achieved a lot. Would I like to see them play for a title in something other than hockey? Of course. But all things considered I’m satisfied with where they’re at. Plus, they are a fine educational institution, and they are located in the epicenter of God’s Country.

Oh, and BTW, your basketball team sucks.

I was afraid I'd punch you in the mouth. The spelling smack (which Dinsdale doesn't hesitate to use when it suits him) and the dictionary smack are one and the same, you fucking tard. The rest of it had to do with reading comprehension (which puts you on the sidelines in a big fucking hurry).

I did read the article after I posted. Fwiw, I would've had West Virginia ahead of both Wisconsin and Pitt.
