Re: FUCKING KISS
KISS gets eternal props for blowing my mind when I was an 8 year old watching the Donny and Marie Show. Now I watch the video of their 70s shows and their act is comical. But to me at the time, having never seen Iggy, Alice or Bowie, they were the freakiest things I could possibly imagine. That and they scared the shit out of my parents. That's always cool.

Re: FUCKING KISS
I saw KISS for free in 2000 when I volunteered to usher their show at Van Andel Arena. It was cool at the time. It's lame now.

So... you like "outgrew" KISS since 2000?Screw_Michigan wrote:I saw KISS for free in 2000 when I volunteered to usher their show at Van Andel Arena. It was cool at the time. It's lame now.
Saw 'em at Kemper arena in 1978 or so. It was cool then, it was lame by 1980.

he's talking about the "kitsch" factor. the life-span of kitsch is pretty short.War Wagon wrote:So... you like "outgrew" KISS since 2000?Screw_Michigan wrote:I saw KISS for free in 2000 when I volunteered to usher their show at Van Andel Arena. It was cool at the time. It's lame now.

as a kid, they were OK. by the time i was 9 or 10 i already had a copy of Help!, Revolver, DSOM, Best of Cream and Begger's Banquet from my dope smoking uncle. the spectacle was cool and some of it was fun (my buddies were sure as hell into it)....but, didn't really seem like "music" to me.

Re: FUCKING KISS
It's never been "music." Simmons has admitted from the start that KISS exists for no other reason than to extract as much money as possible from the public. EOS.King Crimson wrote:didn't really seem like "music" to me.

Seems they rather just lay there, get fucked and play victim
Re: FUCKING KISS
The guitarist is a friend-of-a-friend, so KISS gets a ZycloneRACK for that at least.

I could rattle off a few more that you're heard of in the music industry, too... used to be almost like a music-trade-school in the Old Days.
