Political pundants.

Politics aside, you can only pick 2 and 2.

Top:
Ann Coulter
Sarah Palin

Bottom:
Glen Beck
Rachael Maddow

I know, all women. Wouldn't you know? Yes, Glen Beck is coming out the closet in about 20 years.
You heard it here first.

It's pundits.

fingernails on chalkboard:
Eleanor Clift - is mentally ill
Keith Olbermann - Vogel/Felix douchebag

the not bads:
Alan Keyes - not always in agreement, but he's very well-spoken and elicits TREMENDOUS meltage from the limps
Pat Buchanan - is just good
Jon Stewart - leftist, but is very quick, smart, and witty - and he lets his guests speak

Coulter is not a punidit. She is an attention whore.
Palin is not a pundit. She is a politician.

Beck is not a pundit. He is a performance artist waiting for the right moment to reveal his grand masterpiece.
Maddow isn't a pundit. She is a smug, unfunny leftist gab show host.

top 2:
george will
jack germond

bottom 2:
worthless, smug monica crowley. nothing to say other than republican talking points. better to just print out the talking points, place them on the chair and ask it questions.
ron christie. son... cross-eyed, black and homo is not a good combo for a republican.

fareed zakaria would be #1 but he left This Week to start his own show. Which is awesomely awesome.

Olbermann closely approximates the shit standard, to be sure, but damn, you had to equate him with Felix?

Yeah, Felix is a Donk fan, a flaming lib and an atheist, and likes Fantasy Football, so I can see your perspective a little here. But c'mon man.

the not bads:

Pat Buchanan - is just good

Maybe years ago. But age and blows to the head when he was much younger have taken their toll, a fact not lost on his msnbc employers who like to feature him as their token conservative. Hell, the posse of suck there clown him and he's oblivious to it. Once, they set aside a little segment for him complete with graphics and everything and it was called- "It's Pat." Time to move on for the poor former pugilist.

Jon Stewart - leftist, but is very quick, smart, and witty - and he lets his guests speak

I don't even know you. ( )

But seriously, no. He's nothing more than a lowlife bag-o-shit trash partisan propagandist. He doesn't deserve any respect at all. When called on his Goebbelisation Project, he retreats to the "I'm just a comedian delivering the funny" card- this is well known. And specific instances of intellectual fraud are easy to spot on his show. During the election of '08 he "took a moment" to address the charge that zer0bama is an elitist, for example.

Of course what he did was merely conflate the different meanings of the word. The charge itself uses the word in the sense synonymous with "aristocratic" ... as in what is anathema to the American way and democracy. But Shitforbrains "cleverly" substituted in the other meaning of elite... the good one, you know, as in Green Beret elite or Hall of Fame elite. That which is good based on merit. Yeah, he recast the charge as though it meant the latter sense and bashed the opposition for not wanting an elite person running things. That kind of fallacious crap consciously employed demonstrates his lack of redeeming character... but if it was employed without malice aforethought he and his staff are woefully uneducated.

As for pundits:

Top 2:
From the lib side: Lionel, former Air America host. A great listen.
From the Right side: Mark Levin, current radio show host. I'd dig a Lionel-Levin debate.

Bottom 2:

From the lib side: Eugene Robinson, Washington Post. There really isn't enough smack-matter in the Universe for what that peasashit requires.
From the Right side: Bill O'Reilly, Fox. He could stand to shut the fuck up a lot more.

And how, exactly, is Obama "aristocratic"? He wasn't exactly born into a family of wealth or position, unlike your buddy Dubya.

You missed the point, brain surgeon

velo didn't say that Obama is an aristocrat.

He pointed out that Jon Stewart trys to portray Obama as an elite and that we as his loyal subjects should be grateful that we elected such a capable leader. He said that shit in 2008 and he's still saying it today.

Please try to keep up.

Leibowitz rankles some on the right, but I can appreciate him for what he is.

Entertainment.

You can watch him off-script, on other interview shows, for example, and see that he has a very sharp and quick mind.

He can think for himself and is not a partisan dullard.

I know he's a lefty and I consider him off track in much of his thinking, but I can appreciate anyone who can make their presentation interesting.

He does.

And as I said also, he lets his guest speak - which is something a lot of the so-called TOP pundits are very poor at.

But Leibowitz is not really a pundit, anyway - just a funnyman.

Well, not technically.

I guess that depends on what your definition of pundit is.
dictionary.com wrote:pun·dit   /ˈpʌndɪt/ Show Spelled[puhn-dit] Show IPA
–noun
1. a learned person, expert, or authority.
2. a person who makes comments or judgments, esp. in an authoritative manner; critic or commentator.
By definition 1, most definitely not... by definition number 2, most assuredly.

If anything, Stewart has excoriated Obama repeatedly. See the Shirley Sherrod embroglio or BPs attempt to introduce new oil resistant wildlife to the Gulf of Mexico by flooding the place with oil.

Sure he is, in much the same way that Bill Maher is a comedian... who also happens to be a liberal douchebag.

Are you trying to say that someone who professes to be a comedian can't also be a pundit? That the two terms are mutually exclusive?

I'll give it up for Stewart in that he and his writers do their research and work hard at trying to be funny and often succeed... but always at the expense of some conservative foible that they cherry picked.

When I want to take in some political punditry, I'll go to a pundit. When I want a laugh and see someone glance against an issue and make up half of it for a punchline, I check out Stewart, Maher, or Fox News.

The best: George Will, an intelligent conservative (a rare commodity these days) and a Cub fan/baseball fan. Enjoy his insights into Washington politics and baseball.

The worst: Keith Olberman and Sean Hannity...and most of the folks at Fox News and CNBC....who inject their own particular brand of poison and hate.

Oh bullshit, he had an excellent piece in the paper just today. cockaholic and I found something we can agree on for a change. As well, I like Jonas Goldberg.

From the lib perspective, guess I'll take Clarence Page and Michael Pitts.

He has a column in my paper twice a week or so. I can seldom make it past the second paragraph before dying of boredom. Too collegial and esoteric for my tastes, bring that shit down to my level. Once in awhile, he'll do just that and knock one out the park. He has to be really pissed off before he writes like that.

I've never read the Harvard Law Review, but I imagine it's much like reading a typical George Will column.
The worst: Keith Olberman and Sean Hannity.
Both are good for nothing but Olbermann is by far the worst hissing snake of a talk show host ever. I mean, he's the only person on the planet who could make Rachel Maddow seem palatable.
