Raiders @ Titans

Predictions:

- At least one big special team's play will go Tennessee's way.
- Oakland will pretty much hold C. Johnson in check, but will give up a couple of big gainers and will look up to see him north of 100 yds for the game.
- V. Young won't do a whole lot but will make a couple of backbreaking 3rd down runs.
- Oakland will pass for over 250 yds.
- Oakland will have at least 2 sacks and will allow more sacks than that.
- Tennessee will win the turnover battle.
- Post-game, Tom Curly Cable will lament the poor areas of Raider performance and say something to the effect of, "That's not who we are."

- Tennesse wins 27-22

Do we really have to endure another year of your ridiculous Raider predictions?

It's more entertaining than you swilling a gallon of Popov then rambling on about Nate Kaeding's cack.

He predicted a Tennessee victory which is probably the sanest thing you'll get out of him

I've read so many of his team predictions I just assumed this was another pre-Raider victory.

Poptart knows I enjoy him anyway and I'm just getting things started.

Ucan't, go suck Brady's pencil dick.

Not really sure where you are going with that trev. Pops if far from a YAFJ troll with his picks. Of course if it's a toss up, he goes the Raiders way as he should. He usually can see the forrest from the trees when he's calling it.

Like in this game. I'll believe this team can stop a running game when I see it. I see them trying to keep Johnson from breaking off big runs and being happy if his longest run goes for 17 yards. The eight and nine yards gains they will give up to Javon Ringer when CJ gets spelled is what is going to break them. Campbell will throw one pick and McFadden will cough it up once. Oakland will move the ball but still fail to get TD's in the red zone. Louis Murphy gets 100 yds.

17-13 Titans.

Trev, question ...

Do you know what happened to our friend Roider James?

He went *ghost* on us just about one year ago.

Shit, early September and he should be in here barkin' about 16-0.

I miss that guy.

Titans always play to the level of the competition (unless in Foxboro in the snow) so I think this will be a close game. VY is definitely throwing much more accurate than I ever would have expected him to in the pros, and he is running much less than I thought he would at this stage in his career. The Titans still struggle in the red zone which will probably haunt them all year. I expect a lot of ugly wins (including against the Radiers), but an ugly win is better than a moral victory.

Titans 24
Raiduhs 17

I came here for the first time in about a year just to read something from poptart telling me how the Raiders were going to win this opener.
Damn :D
I suppose this also means there is no Santa Claus!

OK, so realistically the Raiders have a slim chance this week but things might be looking up in the next few weeks against weaker opponents. I know a few people who get paid to talk and write about the NFL are predicting an improved record for Oakland this season but for a team that has lost 11 games or more each of the past 7 seasons, that's not a big stretch.

I'm going into this on the optimistic side, again, but I'm concerned about that offensive line, the inexperienced receivers, and all the DBs outside of Nnamdi.

If Campbell stays healthy, the receivers pan out, and the some of the young guys come through, 8-8 is realistic. In the unlikely scenario where everyone plays over expectations, maybe 9-7! Or maybe it's just another crummy season where by week eight I'm wondering why I paid all this money for DirectTV's Sunday package.

Interesting notes about the game:

- Oakland will be starting 6'8" rookie center. J. Veldheer. He's got short legs for a 6'8" fella, but still, damn, that's a TALL center. Lots of power. Very strong. Is smart. Still a pretty significant learning curve for a rookie center ... coming out of a small school, no less. Will be interesting to see what develops here.

- M. Bush may play with a dinged thumb. If he plays, I don't expect that many touches from him. McFadden will get the bulk of the work.

- J. Campbell was dinged (neck, wrist) but appears ready to go.

- T. Scott (smallish) replaces M. Shaughnessy as starting DE. They'll be rotating a group of guys along the D-Line, so I don't know if this is a big deal or not.

- I'll be very interested to see R. McClain and L. Houston in their first regular season NFL games.

What he said.

Sorry raiduh fan, Mike Greenburg picked your team to win the division. You're fucked now.

Well, that was entertaining. Much different look on offense with JaSon Russell at QB.

I don't know what to believe after that game.

Is Tennessee that good?

Are the Raiders that bad?

Have you seen a Raider game in the past 7 years? Of course the Raiders are that bad.

I picked Tennessee to go to the Super Bowl, so I think they're that good, Rumps.

Tough, physical team.
Well coached.

Most of my predictions came true.

They slapped Oakland in the mouth and the Raiders folded like a cheap Target lawn chair under Lady Rumps.

They overwhelmed the Raider O-Line and made it look easy.

The supposedly much improved Raider defense didn't show.

Same ol'.

Not a bad game by McFadden, though - although a lot of it was "garbage time" stuff.
