Bama/PSU

Sam, we've been talking about this one for a long time. I'm excited that we're almost there...and that both of the teams seem to be at least decent, or in your case, legit top 5.

1) I propose the requisite sig/avatar bet - duration one week.
2) I propose that Saban - Fairmount WV's finest - is not the southern gentleman that his current accent suggest he is.
3) I suggest to you that PSU will win this game 24-20. That would be viewed nationwide as a huge upset...I just wanted you to start getting comfy with the idea.

I'm really pulling for PSU to win this one.

Won't happen or anything... but I'm pulling for them.

I'll be pulling for Penn State too but seriously doubt they've got the horses to pull it off. A Penn State win would definitely help Iowa when the Hawks beat the Lions in Iowa City on October 2.

I'll be pulling for Penn State as well this weekend just to get Sam off that fucking high horse he is riding underneath.

That's the horse that we'd all like to be riding and time will tell if any of our teams have the fire power to shoot that horse out from under him. From what I've seen of the SEC so far, it ain't gonna happen in their conference.

I don't expect Alabama will go undefeated this year. It would really be sweet to see them squeezed out of the national championship game by Boise State.

At this point, I am rooting for a Boise State/TCU rematch in the NCG.

That one loss ain't gonna happen.

#1 in total offense.

#1 amongst teams that didn't play 1AAs in defense.

What's not to like at this point?

I won't be betting against a 2 TD home dog, since that isn't a stop along the road-to-riches, but I can see it getting pretty ugly for the Vols.

I'm more worried about Arkansas than anyone else on Bama's schedule. Mallett might have a field day against our young DBs.

But even with one loss, if Alabama were to win the SEC, they'd undoubtedly be ranked ahead of an undefeated BSU. Same with a one loss Ohio State or a one loss Oklahoma, Texas or Nebraska. Maybe even a one loss Oregon. Maybe.
Sorry, but you’re full of shit. Boise finally started a season rated very highly, knocked off a top 10 opponent and if they run the table without significantly struggling in any game, no way a one-loss team passes them up.

Which is exactly why I want it to happen.

Right now, college football is in the "rich get richer" phase. In order to make the NCG, you have to have a good 3-4 years of 0-2 loss seasons to get to the preseason top 5. Then, you basically have to run the table another year to get a sniff at the NCG. The BCS championship will never go to a team who catches lightning in a bottle. It is reserved for the top powerhouse teams. For example, if Texas or Oklahoma runs the table, they are in. If Colorado runs the table, they are on the outside looking in until they do it a few years in a row.

With a playoff, the best team ON THE FIELD will win. That's why I'm pushing for a BSU/TCU final.

Nope. SOS (I assume the computer geeks factor this in) will squeeze BSU out.
The computers are only 1/3 of the BCS rankings. You'd get fucked and rightfully so.

Well, I'll get some space ready in my sig...'Bama is very deep and very talented.

We got a little b10 ref home cooking on that fumble call...

Props to Bama and cheers to Sam. The Tide rolled. I did't honestly expect a win in this game. I was hoping to see PSU show some positives against the #1 team in the land, and that definitely occurred. RoBo is a promising young QB - those have been scarce at PSU historically.

Honestly, I think PSU's main weakness is the pass coverage. No one is going to stop TR and Ingram when he is healthy - they are superhumans. The Tide watched film and saw big gains possible against our weak safeties...and their two quick scores came against them. Otherwise, PSU played reasonably well imo.

The Tide nation is nothing but class.
