I think Oregon looks like the best team right now.

And Bama, tOSU, and OU don't seem to be messing around either.

But I'm not exactly impartial. But they've got both sides and the special teams covered. The wind may come out of the sails, but I like our chances as well as anyone's right now.

You're just bummed because the SEC look like poo right now... won't last. Too good of coaching across the board.

And Bama seems to be rolling.

Week 2, and it's already a fun season.

the big loser this week: ranked (or formerly ranked) teams in the ACC

Miami, GT, Va Tech, FSU....all losers.

as far as Texas and horseshit teams.....Wyoming isn't total horseshit. under former Mizzou OC Dave Christenson they finished reasonably well last year and won a bowl game. they are much improved over a few years ago. Christenson has done a solid job so far. they aren't a juggernaut, mos def middle tier in the MWC, and UT has seen Christenson's thing before but they aren't Presbyterian or UC-Davis. Interestingly, Wyoming has been a stepping stone for a lot of bigtime coaches...Bob Devaney, Fred Akers, Pat Dye, Dennis Erickson, Joe Tiller.

Bama's secondary hasn't really been tested yet. We'll see how good they really are when they have to face a legit passing team like Arkansas. They're still a helluva team.

The ACC looked piss poor this week, so here's to 2011 for them.

All the usual suspect near the top are really good. It's up in the air right now who really belongs at the top of the list.

I would just like to point out that Mizzou cracked the coaches Top 25 poll this week. 2 or 3 more weeks of cupcake U, and they'll get a sniff of the AP.

well, besides probation. he's 2 for 2.

last week Seer got bent that i suggested that Bill Snyder was a better coach. Neu had a hard time beating Darth when he had McCartney's recruiting classes and top 5 teams his first two years at CU (I could have coached those guys to 8-9 wins)....

According to that crazy ranking, San Diego State would put a whoopin on Georgia?

Let me know how that works out.

Can't speak for Colley, but I know JeffSagarin will be the first to tell you his database and formula are pretty much worthless for the first 5-6 weeks, which is why he suppliments the early weeks with other data before going to strict number-crunching later.

Although Sagarin has Bama at 1, and Oreon at 2, so it can't be all bad.

Watch out for Snodfart in the PAC 10.

Yeah, they're missing Toby Gerhart and they don't have anywhere near the team speed that Oregon has, but they have one of the best QBs in the country, they're pretty loaded at receiver, with a decent group of backs playing so far in a "rushing by committee" setup. The offense actually looked pretty flat while beating UCLAme 35-0 on Saturday in the Rose Bowl, but they're averaging 212 yards on the ground and I think 234 in the air in the first two games.

The big difference between this year and last is that the defense is actually looking pretty damn tough. Cornerback Michael Thomas forced two fumbles against UCLA, both of which he also recovered. On one of them he grabbed the ball out of QB Kevin Prince's hands and ran it back for a TD.

Coach Harbaugh has done an incredible job with this program that's been pretty much a perennial doormat for the past decade. He's put together a very good coaching staff, many of whom have extensive NFL experience. They have the whole team playing like they really mean it.

In the next four weeks it will become apparent if they're realy any good, because after Wake Forest they have Notre Dame, Oregon and USC. The Oregon game really could be for the conference title.
