I think Nebraska is better, but they've yet to play anybody.
Nebraska seems to be the top dog in the 12... I won't go so far as saying they haven't played anybody... it can be pretty tough to win in Seattle, even when the Puppies are sucking wind.

But it's 3 weeks in... wholebuncha teams haven't played anyone yet.

We'll see how much of a doormat the Fuskies are next week, if they repeat their sucking against USC.
Speaking of which - I know it was Duke (and though they're better they still suck), but my GOD. 'Bama could have easily stuck 100 points up in that one if they had wanted to.
Portland State might give Duke a run for their money (although Duke isn't as bad as we make them out to be for the sake of laughs)... Oregon rolled over for them in the 4th quarter -- like running double-reverses 10 yards in the backfield with 4th stringers and stuff. And ran right into the tackle on 4th and 20 with the alternative being a 37 yard FG. Cool move by Kelly -- PAC teams probably won't get that courtesy. The zebras even got in on the act, and called a hilariously wrong clipping on a punt return in the 4th that went for a 1000 yard TD.

Texas is playing some good D, but I'm not sold on them yet. Nebraska looks solid. OU looks like a pretender.

But that's why they play the games, right?

Looking forward to getting to the "meat" of the season next week.

SEC inflation looks to be in full effect once again. Last year we had Ole Piss inexplicably ranked in the preseason Top 10, and now a couple other perpetual SEC also-rans are getting mad love. I've got no qualms with Bama and UF being ranked where they are, but does anyone in their right mind (read "outside the South") really think Arkansas and South Carolina are the 10th and 12th best teams in the country? Hell, just to show I'm not totally hating on the SEC, I'd argue that LSU should be above both of those teams. At least they've shown a propensity to actually finish the season in the Top 10 in recent years.

If you want to both laugh and get angry, check out this tard's ballot...

Yup, Iowa ahead of Zona due to the "better resume." It's week 3, for chrissake -- everyone's "resume" sucks balls (except Jacksonville St. and James Madison... who this douche has at #18, one spot higher than Stanford).

They really need to weed out the ultra-biased fools from the polls.

That Wilner guy writes for a Bay Area paper, and has an extreme hatred for all things Stanford and Oregon, and ain't too fond of Oregon State or USC, either.

The Ducks could cure cancer and end worldwide famine, and he'd find a reason to downplay it.

Just a complete fucking idiot. Maybe I'll post updates of his stupid fucking ballots through the season (since one of the Ducks beat writers links up his ballot article every week, and laughs about it).

Houston is ranked higher than UCLA....That must mean they're the better team. :D

I wonder who the idiot is who ranked a 1-2 ND team 25th. That might even be more absurd than Dinsdale's jackass putting James Madison 18th. The saddest part is, this is the freaking AP poll! I've come to expect ridiculous rankings from the coaches poll. Those guys watch one game a week (their own) and have grad assistants fill out their polls. If your full-time job is to watch and write about college football, I expect a little better...

College football is just one, big, exhibition. No best, no worst, just an exhibition. There has never been a national champion and there never will be as long as it remains a popularity contest. This is irrefutable. But that's how they want it. I can claim UCLA is better than Alabama...who the fuck knows? Never actually be proven. So everyone that condemns conference smak....that's about all we got - conference champions and W/L vs. other conferences mixed in with holiday entertainment bowl games.

Papa Willie wrote:[* Moved Oregon up two spots but kept the Ducks below Florida. I realize the comparative scores against Tennessee favor the Ducks, but that’s offset by Florida’s stronger overall resume (Oregon has what amounts to two FCS wins).

Why let what you've actually witnessed on the field stand in the way of using your poll vote to inform everyone how much smarter you are than anyone else?

As to the rest -- I mentioned my new CFB watching buddy just moved here from Florida (serious Gator honk). And yes, he heard all about how my team was better against a common opponent than his.

Good guy -- a SECBSH with brains and common sense -- an unusual combination. He seems to dig the fact that if Oregon isn't playing, if I have the remote, I default to whatever SEC game is on.

Florida seems to be improving steadily... thanks to Demps. What an electrifying player he is (he's no LaMichael James or anything, but still amazing).

BTW -- LaMichael just dropped 229 yards in the first half, and described it as "the worst game of my life." Dude's averaging like 128 yards a carry-btw.

ASU looked better than I thought they would, and Wisky looked like poo. That #11 ain't going to last long.

That it was... and I feasted on a bunch of it. My thumb is sore from working the remote.

Fucking grand, it was.

And Seer can bitch about things all he wants. At the end of the day, he posts on a CFB messageboard every freaking week...

Because he loves it.

Passion breeds bitching. So does a sucky team.

Good point. With Iowa losing they should have moved up to #10.

Seriously, the Badgers haven’t played a decent game yet this year. But if a Big 10 team has to lose to a team from Arizona, I’m just happy it’s Iowa.

I didn't know Iowa was from Arizona.

Stick around. You might learn something.
