The ball was out of Smith's hand just as Ginn broke open and regardless, he completed a pass on that play for a first down. And after Ginn tried to catch that first deep ball with his shoulder blades, how many times would you look his way?

25-39, 309yds 3tds = sucks shit? He threw two picks, but the first was on Ginn's "duh...where da ball?" act and he got creamed after an ole` block by Anthony Davis on the second.

They weren't just booing Smith, they were booing the bad play calls on the two previous drives and the offense as a whole.

He didn't cave because with the exception of the fumble/td play, Smith played well. He had a 92.8 passer rating for the game even with the two picks.

They didn't lose this game because of Alex Smith, they lost it because Frank Gore...who never fumbles...fumbled twice and Nedney, who is as automatic as they get, missed one that's normally right in his wheelhouse. In other words, they're finding all new and creative ways to lose. I swear, I can't ever remember seeing a team this snake-bit.

Yep. His crew of Bryant, Austin, Williams, Jones, Barber and Witten are better than the Niners best six, yet he's still 1-3. Romo plays well for 90% of a game, but seems to lose focus on just enough plays to cost them the game.

He's just another overrated player on that overrated team. I'm glad John Saunders pretty much called out the media last night for putting Dallas on a pedestal when they have done ZERO to deserve it.

I'm not so sure about that, mv. Like BSmack mentioned, they are snakebit.

Nate Clements' interception last week was more of a great play by Roddy White and not so much on Clements not protecting the ball.

They dominated the Saints on Monday night, but turnovers inside the red zone killed them.

Last night was more of the same. Gore, Nedney, and that one bonehead play by Smith fucked them over again. Smith, however, did respond when Singletary chewed his ass out on the sidelines. He was fucking nails for the rest of the 4th quarter.

Everything is starting to point at Singletary, but I'm not sure what else he needs to do? If his players screws up, he gets in their ear. What can Singletary do beyond that? It seems Smith keeps saving his job eventhough the Niners keep losing.

The good news is the Niners aren't out of it. Their next six games are all winnable. They should get back in the mix because it seems nobody wants to win the NFC West. They'll probably be 5-6 after these easy stretch of games and will only be a game out heading into the final leg of the season.

49ers president Jed York predicts team will win division

Spoiler alert! Team president Jed York said the 49ers' season ends with them rallying from an 0-5 start to make the playoffs.

"We're going to win the division," York said in a text message sent to ESPN on Monday morning.

Such a turnaround would make the 49ers the only team in NFL history to reach the postseason after losing its first five games.

Outscored 130-76 this season, the 49ers remain hopeful because of a schedule that appears easier over the final 11 games.

Coach Mike Singletary, whose job security is under increasing scrutiny, embraced his boss' crystal ball.

"That was our first goal: to win the division, to get in the playoffs and have a chance to play for the big one," Singletary said. "That is still our goal. Unfortunately, we're having to deal with these things very early on that could kill most teams. But it will not kill our team."

Next up: The Raiders (2-3) at Candlestick Park on Sunday.

Donovan McNabb wasn't of interest. Carr was ordained the clipboard carrier with the understanding that he wouldn't actually compete for the job.

Translation: The 49ers didn't want to pay McNabb, even though many believed his acquisition would have made SF not just a contender for the division, but for the NFC title.

Smith hasn't performed like an NFL quarterback. In any other franchise, the plug would have been pulled long ago. The experiment ended. The investment swallowed. The team would have moved on.

Translation: The 49ers have a budget and won't go over it in pursuit of a winning season, then again that was painfully obvious after they signed David Carr.

End of story.

Um, Carr, no. Carr is not a better option. Carr is garbage. He may get some wins if he is put in there in the coming weeks but Smith would get them too because things are lightening up now. Rough one yesterday but good game for scrubs. That 2nd Gettis TD was sweet and it was nice for Smith to hit Davis B2B. Whew, still won fantasy with Smith dropping out thanks to TO, AP, MJD and Witten!! Time to move Fitzpatrick up to #1, Guh!
